I am back 'on the case' for a short time.
Just trying to tidy up a couple of loose ends that might help work us back a little further and have come across a few items that could help.
Zennor Burials record that of one DAVID STEVENS DAVEY, age 3, of Boswednack, on October 13, 1821.
(IGI records the baptism as 10th May 1818 s/o Wm. Davy & Elizth)
This almost has to be one of the family.
I believe I have also just now solved the 'mystery' of the John Davey buried at Zennor in 1858.
He will be the son of William and Elizabeth Davey (brother of John).
This John was bp. Zennor (IGI) 31st December 1811.
This led me to a marriage I had never transferred to my database:-
William DAVY & Elizabeth STEVENS m. 19th March 1808 at Zennor
I believe the child mentioned above is almost certainly the son of this William and Elizabeth.
The child's name is suggestive and I now believe Elizabeth STEVENS to be the following:-
Elizabeth d/o DAVID & Anne (nee ROWE) bp. Zennor 19th December 1779
The other thing I have found regarding the Dav(e)y family:-
Richard Davey, age 40, of Morvah was buried at Zennor 17th February 1816.
I believe him to be the brother of the above-mentioned William and of your John DAV(E)Y.
Richard married a Jane EDDY at Zennor 8th September 1804 and had five children that I am aware of.
Three of those children were baptised at Morvah.
Have checked both Zennor and St Just (IGI) for baptisms and can only find two children from John and Jane with both being baptised at St Just (Jane in 1806 and John in 1812).
It is possible they may have had other children baptised elsewhere, of course, and it is something I will need to check.
But, at the moment, I am fairly confident that 'your John' was the man who married Jane Osborn at Zennor in 1800.
Now, here is a burial of possible interest at ZENNOR:-
28 Feb 1837 Jane Davy of St. Just aged 69
Was this John's wife.
And then there is this one - again at ZENNOR:-
18 Dec 1844 John Davey of St. Just aged 75
This following may be the brother of John:-
29 Jun 1846 William Davey of Chyhundra aged 74
Will obviously have to do some more work on this but I think some things are beginning to fall into place.
A little luck will see me doing some more after work tonight but cannot guarantee it.
Please keep me informed and updated and I will, as usual, do my best.
