John Huthnance (my 3rd great grandfather) b 15 Oct. 1826 Pillack. Married Elizabeth James. I know of one son John b 1847, are there any records confirming this data and are there any more children?

I would suggest you post some further details about the marriage and also, should you have it, any Census details or other information that might help.
I am running short of time before my ISP shuts down but do have some information here for Phillack.
However, a few more specifics might help me find something for you.
Have you checked more than one Census. ?
I have seen numerous Census Records (tracking through 1851,1861 etc.) where a family will be recorded but with, numerous times, the place of birth for family members recorded as being different Parishes.
The more information you can supply will make it a little easier for us to help you track down the information.
Must go now but hope to be still online tomorrow.

Unfortunatly I have not been able to find any more data. they may have moved and as I have no feel for the distances between parish lines. Looking through all the census reports is slow. Trying to see the world through the eyes of those long gone is very difficult at best but I really think its the most fun. I try to immagine why they would go from place to place for other than a short visit?

Okay George - Please post a reminder for me and I will try to search some Census Records for you after work tomorrow. (Given I still have Internet Access!!)
That is the big problem just now but I will try.
Now is time to relax and watch a few episodes of the original Star Trek series before I head off to bed.
Let's hope I can find something for you.

I have found very much the same as 'londoner' but my one big problem is that I cannot find John's parents (John and Ann) in any Census whatsoever. It is possible that John died and Ann re-married or that both died prior to 1841. I am totally frustrated now so will await further input before attempting anything else on this one.

I think you will find that John Huthnance and his wife Ann Stevens moved to Australia with most of their family and John died there in 1872 at Campbelltown New South Wales. Eldest son John stayed in Cornwall but Henry Jane, Mary, James, Samuel and Eleanor went to Australia with them.

Thanks Hazelp and Welcome. (I see by your profile that you have just registered so will look forward to seeing you getting involved.)
Can you tell us anything further about the family in Australia? Did they arrive in NSW and stay there or were they in any other States for a time?
Most importantly for now - you say that John Huthnance died at Campbelltown in 1872 - can you tell us how old he was and were his parents named please.

Thanks for all that work Gandolf.
So John was probably:-
John HUTHNANCE s/o Henry and Jane bp. 26th October 1800 at Gwinear
Which makes his parents probably:-
Henry HUTHNANCE, of Gwithian m. Jane VEALE 5th February 1799 at Gwithian
If I have identified John and his parents correctly then we have another problem as there are at the very least three baptisms for Henry Huthnance and no absolute guarantee at the moment that any of them would be the right one.
Jane VEALE is a little easier and was probably:-
Jane VEALE d/o Rowand and Jane bp. 29th October 1775 at Gwithian.
Rowland VEALE, of Phillack, Gent., m. Jane CURNOW d/o Peter CURNOW and Ann (nee HARRIS) 16th January 1766 at Gwithian
Let's see if this is all correct and then we can try to determine Henry's identity.
