I am researching James Sweet UREN c 15 Jan 1826 Phillack.
He obviously emigrated to Australia, as he married Elizabeth Ann CUNDY 8 Sep 1849 Adelaide, South Australia. They had 14 children, and he died 21 Apr 1884 at Orange, NSW, Australia, and was buried in Milthorpe Cemetery.

More detail please or help may be difficult.
I found the baptism for James Uren at Phillack but he is recorded merely as 'James s/o John and Mary Uren'.
I am presuming that his mother might have been a 'Mary Sweet' but that cannot be taken for granted.
I found no marriage at Phillack for a John Uren to a Mary Sweet and have none in my database so please tell me more about this family.

I don't have much more to give you on this one. Details have come from other researchers, so I don't have their sources. 8 of the 14 children have Sweet in their name, so I expect it was a family name somewhere.
My main focus is on the CUNDY line, but will see what else I can find out.

Hmmm - Please give me what details you have on the siblings of James UREN and I will see what I can do. I also need to try and check on the CUNDY side of things but I will need time and, perhaps, a little more information to work on once again. I currently only have 9 Cundy people in my database but none fit your scenario. Some of these link into my POLLAMOUNTER family but seem to have been from St Stephen in Brannel, Cornwall. (Phillis TREWHELLA, sister of my 2xgt-grandfather, married her second husband, William POLLAMOUNTER, at Barry's Reef, Victoria in 1868.) Seems the POLLAMOUNTER family became MOUNTER which can complicate things a little. However, William was som of William POLLAMOUNTER and Ann CUNDY. Ann CUNDY was bp. St Stephen in Brannel 8th August 1802 d/o George CUNDY and Ann (nee SNELL). Can this help things in any way.

Have found a marriage of John Uren to Mary Anne Sweet on 12 July 1824 in Bodmin. Would fit with James' birth. Any help?

Also, if I've got the right family , James Sweet Uren called one of his children Mary Ann Sweet Uren. Another pointer that we may be on the right track. The only downside is that Phillack and Bodmin are quite a distance from each other.

Good work m'darlin. This information certainly looks promising and the names definitely fit the given scenario. Do not be overly concerned, at the moment, with the distance between Phillack and Bodmin as there could be more than one reason for the marriage occurring at Bodmin. But I would like to know your source for the name of James Uren's daughter 'Mary Ann Sweet Uren' given that I understand she was probably born in Australia. I would like some more help here. The 1841 Census does not seem to show clearly 'our' James but the only one I have found that 'might' be him is in the Workhouse and is the only person named Uren there at the time. From Phillack Baptisms I have the following (other than James already mentioned):- Mary Ann d/o John M (roper) & Mary Ann Uren of Bodriggy bp. 30th September 1829 William Henry s/o John (roper) & Mary Ann Uren of Ventonleague bp. 4th September 1831 It is possible this is a different family given that, in 1826, John Uren was a 'miner, of Guildford' when James was baptised. The next record of baptism for a child of John and Mary Uren at Phillack is in 1844 and I suspect this is a different family. What I need, if possible, is the names and all known details about date and place of birth for all children of James Sweet Uren. I also need anything further that might be known about him prior to his departure from Cornwall, if that is at all possible. Anything out of that might just help me sort out the problem.

Well I must admit that I googled and found details of the family, but only starting from James Sweet Uren. The marriage of John Uren and Mary Anne Sweet I found on LDS, though it took a while as I was looking in the Phillack area. Here is the URL of the website with details of children for James: users.bigpond.net.au/coolgarra/html/fam01469.htmSo many John Urens...

Have just had a look on another genealogical website (RW) and this subject was covered in 2002. It may be worth contacting one of the people who left a message regarding this family Coolgarra, if you haven't already done so.

Thanks again Cornishmaid - and, once more, I will try and take a closer look at this tonight or in the next couple of days, work and rest permitting.
Rest assured that I will not forget it and will do my best to help solve the problem.
That's why cousin Nancy (many years ago) called me the Cornish Terrier. ;D
