Here's a rather interesting Trengove:
IGI has a 'Sonvratta Trengove', (female) christened in Luxulyan on 11 December 1789.
I have on CD a transcript of the entry from the register. It records 'Convratta Trengove, son of Mohameton parents, native of the East'.
Come on then, folks, unravel this one with your combined mighty brainpower!

Can't help with 'Convratta/Sonvratta' right now but did find the following that might be of interest in the 'Collins English Dictionary - Australian and New Zealand Edition' MOHAMMEDAN (mo-ah-ed-an) a. pert. to Mohammed or to Mohammedanism:--- n. a follower of Mohammed; a Moslem. Also MAHOM'ETAN, MAHOM'EDAN.--- etc. This would fit with '...... native of the East'.

Yes, I'd got that far.
If of Moslem parents, as he surely must have been, why was he entered in the baptismal records?
It seems likely that his mother was a Trengove and the father from a Moslem country.

See rootschat for a discussion of this family. He married Ann Broad--marriage can be seen on FamilySearch.org, and from the marriage date it can be inferred that the baptism was not done when he was an infant. I see that he may have married a first time to another individual--just glimpses from Yahoo forums--have not seen the forum discussions themselves. He is thought to have come from the East Indies, from what I can see online.
