Where is my afternoon going!
From my initial follow up through Ancestry records it would appear that John CURNOW (1813) is the son of:
Emmanuel CURNOW (bpt 29-12-1776 St.Ives) = 9 Nov 1802 Elizabeth QUICK (born circa 1781)
Emmanuel is the son of William CURNOW (3-1-1734 St.Ives?) = 21 Jan 1755 St.Ives Martha GRENFELL bpt 27-6-1731 St.Ives
Martha daughter of Richard GRENFELL and Martha COUL?? married 23-11-1725 Uny lelant. Several options for Richard GRENFELL.
**************************
Patience Nicholas CRAZE bpt 27-8-1826, died 1897, dgr of William CRAZE copper miner = 28-10-1816 St Ives Elizabeth NICHOLAS.
William CRAZE bpt 3-8-1794 St.Ives to John CRAZE and Jane JAMES (=3-9-1786 St.Ives).
I havent traced a candidate for Elzth NICHOLAS around St.Ives yet.

Now then , as to my link, at a 40 centimorgan match:
I have GRENFELLs in St. Just in the 1600's: ie 7/8th cousins
I have JAMES ancestry in St Just mid-1700's and earlier; ie 6/7th cousins, but prob further back link
I have an Elizabeth NICHOLAS of the right age, grand-daughter of common ancestors Daniel WATERS & Maragret SHETFORD: ie poss 6th cousin. However Elizabeth's family lived in St.Levan, and I have found no evidence to suggest the family was upwardly mobile. Not out the question though.
I have no QUICK, CRAZE, COUL?, or CURNOW in my family tree. Although somewhere at the back of my mind there may have been a distant PHILLPS/QUICK marriage in the 1600's
These all seem a bit stretched for the strength of the dna link, but not out the question. I have found one Penwith cousin at no.20 on my list
who is only a 7th cousin at best, as far as I can tell, but we share ancestry with at least 6 different St.Just families!!
Time will tell, but certainly looks a Penwith link.
Thank you again Sue especially, and CT.
Have a good day everyone.
