Hi all, I could get lost in Penwith today, if I wasn't on the other side of the world; in 1800 it must have been easy. So it is possible i should be posting this in Ludgvan Lookups or Towednack Tallyings . That said I have a marriage in Gulval in 1850 with both the bride and groom being from Geer. Does anyone know where Geer was/is ? And since I am asking what of Cuclurryan, would that be Towednack?
More generally can someone suggest a map (or set of) which would have the hamlets and farms of the 1800s on it?

Gear(Geer) is a farm lying northwest of the village of Gulval and just a little south of Newmill. You can find it on the 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey Map and I should think you would also find it in Google Maps.
Curclurryan is a definite mis-spelling for Cucurrian (this is the spelling on the 1:25,000 map). You will find this as Curcuryan and numerous other spellings but it is definitely in Ludgvan Parish north of Ludgvan village and east of Boskennal.

You wouldn't want to be out in Penwith today, the rain hasn't stopped since the early hours and the tops of the moors are in the clouds! Gear is a name that recurs in several areas, there is another in Zennor but the Gulval one is the best bet for this one. Curcurrian is on a small road between Nancledra and Ludgvan, not far from the St Michaels Way footpath.

Thanks CT & Londoner. I couldn't find either on Google maps though I did find a Gear farm up near Helston.
