Since I have had to give up on tracing origins of the Trewhella side of my family (as Theophilus was illegitimate) I am wondering if anyone might have information about the family his mother, Ann (Nanny) Trewhella (nee Berryman), who was the widow of Edward Trewhela of Gwinear.
I'd like to try to track back her ancestors, if I can - I believe her parents were John Berryman and Margaret Strick, but am stuck trying to trace back either of these further.

Berryman (and variants) is another of those difficult families to follow and there are a number of groups who so far cannot be proved to be connected. Hopefully further down the track I may be able to spend more time and make another attempt to resolve some of the issues but for the moment I don't have too much on the family around St Buryan where Anne seems to come from.
All I can tell you right now is that I suspect Anne's father John to have been baptized at St Buryan in 1759 to a John and Anne Berriman for whom I have so far not found a marriage record. I also have two possible siblings for John - Anne baptized at St Buryan in 1754 who possibly married William Hutchens at St Buryan in 1777 and a brother George who was baptized at St Buryan in 1756.
