AP/B/597 Will of Thomas Bosanko of Crowan 1622
Administration only - Zenobia Bosanko seems to be the administatrix but I can't tell her relationship without spending a lot of time trying to decipher the handwriting.
AP/B/1791 Will of Regnald Bosanko, yeoman, of Crowan 1676
Administration only - Administrator is Thomas Bosanko, father of the deceased
AP/B/1972 Will of Catherine Bosanko, widow, of Crowan 1682
Written 1st March 1681 Proved 29th March 1682 son Thomas Bosanko 5 shillings son John Bosanko 5 shillings daughter Honnor and daughter Catherine all goods moveable and unmovable and also named as executors Grandsons Reynold Bosanko and John Bosanko twelve pence a year
AP/B/3356 Will of John Bosanko, yeoman, of Crowan 1731
Written 9th December 1723 Proved 6th July 1731 son William Bosanko ten shillings one year after death son Thomas Bosanko one shilling 'to be pd him after my decease when he comes for it' grandson John the son of Robert Sampson one heifer wife Alice Bosanko chattle estate in Bosfranken and all household goods during her lifetime after decease of wife the chattle estate and all other goods turn back to son John Bosanko who is named executor
There are some further conditions about the wife not selling anything without permission of the executor etc. but it is difficult to read and would take some time.
(I am also not quite sure about the 'estate in Bosfranken' - that looks to be the name but it is faint. Problem is that Bosfranken is actually in St Buryan)
AP/B/4402 Will of John Bosanko, yeoman, of Crowan 1775
Written 19th August 1775 Proved 1st September 1775 wife (not named) 16 pounds per hear so long as she remains a widow. If she marries again only forty pounds and the bed and bedding she now sleeps in and the house that John Bastard lives in and necessary household goods for her use as long as she lives. Blanch Coade ten pounds per year in quarterly payments as long as she lives but her husband is not to sell it or mortgage the same. (that doesn't make sense to me but ….) Margery Veale 'my sister's daughter' five pounds per year as long as she lives out of estate in Bolangen Sister's son John Russell is named executor
I now have copies of these Wills so if you would like to read them for yourself let me know via PM with your email address.

WOW thank you very very much appreciated. Only just started looking at Bosanko but a link with St Buryan would not surprise me at all as there were many Crowan Marriages that link with St Buryan people.

Hello, Captain,
I am interested in what you meant re: Crowan/St Buryan links. I think I have one in my family and am curious about why one would make the move between those areas.

I believe my links with Crowan and St Buryan are based on miners moving to Crowan to work but marrying with families from where they came from. They are marrying women with family connections ie cousins of varying degrees. What family do you have?

My 5th great-grandfather, Martin Harvey, was baptized in 1738 in St Buryan, married Wilmot Clemence in Phillack and died in Crowan in 1827. He seems to have invested in a number of properties in the area of Gwinear/St Erth/Crowan as well having as an interest in a ale house in Probus and the Concord Pilchard Fishery (with son-in-law Hannibal Cardell.) His son and grandson were both named William and were farmers and butchers in Crowan and Gwinear. William Jr became the innkeeper at the New Inn in Phillack in 1839 eventually returning to farming at Carzise in Crowan where he died in 1883. My 2nd great-grandfather, Edward married Mary Semmons of Crowan and brought the family to Michigan in the USA. Initially he worked in mining, but he later was a drayman and wood and coal dealer as well as farming land across the state line in Florence County, Wisconsin.
So, in my case, I think it was land, particularly farmland, that was the underlying reason for relocating.
Besides Harvey and Semmons, my other family names related to the Crowan area are Trewhela, Taylor, and Bartle, but they have no St Buryan connection as far as I know.

Technically that is not quite correct. Edward Trewhela (1786-1817) son of Thomas Trewhela and Martha Blewett was married at St Buryan in 1813 to Anne Berryman (1793 St Buryan d/o John Berryman and Margaret Strick). Edward was born at Crowan and although living at Gwinear was also buried at Crowan. There were no children from the marriage but after Edward's death Anne/Nanny Trewhela (nee Berryman) had three illegitimate children. Uriah Samuel Trewhela was born at St Buryan in 1821 and died at Falmouth 4 months later. Theophilus was born at St Buryan about 1827 and, as Theophilus Trewhella, emigrated to Australia and married Elizabeth Hill at Buninyong, Victoria, in 1858. Daughter Sophia was baptized at Gwinear in 1829 and married John Berryman at St Justin 1855 (he born St Just 1824 son of Richard Berryman and Grace Lawry). They also came out to Australia where two short-lived sons were born before Sophia died in 1865. CT

Zibetha Yes I meant to mention a lot of moving around connected with farming and marriages.
Cornish Terrier - What a fascinating tale that was - which as it mentioned Berryman I had to follow through. Strangely I put John Berryman 1759 St B who married Margaret Strick on the Berryman chart just this week as I believe from my first draft that I am working from that his sister Anne 1754 St Buryan married William Hutchens C1754 St B in 1777 and his brother Sampson married a Joan 1753 Berryman from Crowan. This is just one of the example of double marriages I have with Crowan and St Buryan there is another one with Ladner. I also followed through the John Berryman b 1824 St Just who married Sophia Trewhela 1829 and can also see how he fits to the Berryman chart and also see how he also links. What was intriguing there was the link further back with Taylor and so with Boyns which I have researched before and now my head is spinning with all these connections!
I note there is lot of Eddy/Eade/Eddie marriages in the Berryman family. I have a Loveday Eude who married Charles Berryman 1727 Sithney I have not found her C: but suspect she might be from the far West too. Zennor/St Buryan/Paul etc.
I was off on a tangent but all the info made more sense of my tree.
Back to the wills! One in Paul yesterday was very handy as a Berryman died with no issue so very kindly confirmed all his siblings and husbands and in some cases issue! Very handy.

A question as I am not a Berryman researcher: I see Sophia living with her mother in 1851 along with mother's nephew John Berryman whom I would suspect was Sophia's future husband? Was John actually a nephew, or was the relationship different?

Zib - you are just pleading to be confused! 'Nephew' John Berryman was NOT the future husband of Sophia Berryman. That is the short answer. But I suppose I should now elaborate and attempt to explain just exactly who the nephew was. Okay - If you take another look at the Census (presuming you can see an image of the original Census) you will note that the nephew's name is John G Berryman and that he is age 22 and was born at St Buryan. Sophia's husband was a couple of years older and had been born at St Just. He was baptized at St Just 12th July 1824 son of Richard Berryman and Grace Lawry. I presume there may be a connection between Richard Berryman and the ancestors of Sophia's mother but I am yet to find it. John G Berryman was, in fact, John George Berryman and he was baptized at St Buryan 21st October 1827 son of John Berryman and Margaret Berryman who married at St Buryan 28th November 1826. John Berryman (father of John George) was baptized at St Buryan in 1784 son of George Berryman and Ann Williams. Margaret Berryman (mother of John George) was baptized at St Buryan in 1787 daughter of John Berriman and Margaret Strick. Sooooooooooooo!! Margaret Berryman (mother of John George) was a sister to Anne Berryman (wife of Edward Trewhela and mother of Sophia Trewhella). i.e. Margaret Berryman and Anne Berryman were sisters and both daughters of John Berriman and Margaret Strick! And I will bet that is about as clear as mud can get! CT

I concur with Cornish Terrier re above although my work so far as been only on Crowan Berrymans I am now starting to piece together the further west one's very slowly however I can answer the OTHER question but purely based on my initial draft of the Zennor Berrymans and I have a LOT of work to do. Fortunately one of the wills I have looked at already helps! Is it fate that I looked at that one on Saturday!
The John Berryman 1824 that Sophia Trewhella married is a more distant cousin. Johns 1824 father Richard 1781 St Just who married Grace Lawry Richard 1781 Fathers is William 1759 Zennor who married Jane Taylor 23.7.1778 St Just. William 1759 appears to be the son of David 1718 who married Margaret Eddy 1746 Zennor David 1718 appears to be the son of Arthur who married Grace Carvossa in his will proved 1751 he refers to son David being deceased and William the GSon is mentioned. Arthur is the son of David who married Grace Roberts. Arthurs will proved 1724 mentions son Arthur. David is the son of an Arthur who is said to have married Margaret Thomas. I do not know who Arthur belongs to!
All the above as I say is 'first draft' of how I think it works!
The Ann Berryman mother of Sophia - that Berryman line appears to go back John 1759 St Buryan married Margaret Strick John 1728 Zennor Married Ann unknown Daniel 1685 Zennor married Ann Eddy Richard 1655 Married Margaret Thomas Nicholas 1618 married Margaret Hiddons John 1586@ married Elizabeth Veale
As I say .............this is early days. I have NOT worked any of these families yets and wills will no doubt jiggle things about! Dates are vague because I have not found all the relevant records yet.
Its certain that the earliers Arthur in the one group is connected to the John in the second group but as I say early days for me on all this but I believe at this stage the Berryman Sophia married is a more distant Zennor cousin.
There is an Arthur 1575@ who married a Bridget in Paul 1597 I would very much like to know how he connects to the others.
Interestingly when I looked at that Richard Berryman/Grace Lawry connection on the weekend. Another son in that family links directly to my paternal line and my mothers line with is Stithians although the connection happens in Australia!! Its a small world!!!
Back to the Berryman wills as so far they are proving very useful.
