Things seem to be pretty quiet here so I have another QUICK person who appeared in Cornwall, Victoria Australia and the USA.
Do you have the birth record for Emma Jane Quick, who was born in 1867 in Victoria - her parents were said to be Israel Quick and Jane Smith.
Firstly I think the Israel mentioned is the son of Israel Quick and Mary Rowe and was born around 1830 in Towednack / Ludgvan.
Secondly I think that Jane Smith was Jane Semmens and at the time of the birth of Emma was still the wife of Ambrose Roberts. Interesting to note that the mother of Jane Semmens was Elizabeth SMITH.
The family is in the USA by 1870 where Israel died in 1891.
I would be interested in your initial thoughts.

Lannanta - as a matter of fact I do happen to have that one. The BC shows Emma Jane was born at Ballarat East 10th May 1867 to Israel Quick and Jane Smith. Israel is recorded as age 35 and born Ludgvan whilst Jane Smith is age 34 and also born Ludgvan. The record also states that Israel and Jane were married at Ludgvan in 1854 and that there was another child - a son George age 12. Now all this is very interesting ………. and also somewhat misleading! There is definitely no marriage for this couple at Ludgvan or anywhere else in the UK for that matter and I have serious doubts that a marriage ever took place. I'm not sure whether Jane was still married to Ambrose Roberts at the time of Emma's birth …. but it certainly would not surprise me! From the records of children I have where this 'triangle' is involved it would seem that perhaps only Ambrose Roberts might have cared whether or not there was a marriage! Ambrose Roberts and Jane Semmens (daughter of John Semmens and Elizabeth SMITH) were married at Ludgvan 30th January 1851. A daughter, Mary Jane, was baptized at Ludgvan in 1853 and buried at Ludgvan in 1856. But the next child recorded to Jane was George QUICK who was born in Australia in 1857! And then in 1858 at Ballarat Thomas Oxley Roberts was born and registered as a child of Ambrose Roberts and Jane Semmens. In 1861 (I have the date as 24th June 1861) a daughter was born to Ambrose Roberts and Jane Semmens at Ballarat. Curiously this child was named Mary QUICK Roberts!! (Not sure that I should make any comments about that here!! ) And then the last child I know of was Emma Jane in 1867. Ambrose Roberts died at Creswick in 1881 age 50 but the rest might be best left to the imagination! CT
