Hello
I have a Sarah Williams who married James Ellis Quick on the 1st June 1879 - OPC site. FreeBMD agrees with his name. OPC site lists his father as John ELLIS. So shouldn't he be James Quick ELLIS??

His birth was registered in the March Quarter of 1859 as 'James Quick Ellis' and his mother's maiden name recorded as 'Quick'. FreeBMD agrees with the marriage record because the GRO Index (of which FreeBMD is a transcript) copies the names from copies of the registers that are deposited at the GRO (formerly St Catherine's House). When he married James was unable to sign his name and so made his mark which opens the possibility that the marriage record is merely a clerical error. James and Sarah along with daughter Sarah can be found in the 1881 Census at Gwennap under the surname ALLIS. In the 1891 Census Sarah is at Illogan with with daughter Sarah and a further four children but James is absent. Nothing to indicate where he was but Sarah is still listed as married.
