Zib - perhaps use the Help>Queries board for now. CT might be able to make a new Parish>Breage section later, just for you

Breage parish is in Kerrier Hundred, not Penwith. Therefore you can post your inquiry on the "Kerrier et al" section of this board.

Thank you! I need a good map and in the meantime have found a great list online.

Sorry about the delay in answering this query (and many others) but I have been otherwise occupied for a couple of months and only now finding time to get back to 'normal'. As mentioned by Trencrom Breage is in the Hundred of Kerrier. When Kathie first set up this site it was primarily to focus on West Penwith and so only those Parishes within that Hundred were afforded a 'home of their own'. It quickly became obvious that emigration and other factors meant that research on West Penwith would involve much more than that small peninsula and that it would in fact cover much of the World. At the time the site was started there were also just a couple of people involved - Kathie and myself - so the Surname section was primarily set up for names of primary interest to the two of us. I think the intention at the time was to expand as required but initially it was a central and convenient way for Kathie and myself to discuss our own interests with provision for others to become involved as well. The Parishes in the current list on the forum are all of those 'ancient' Parishes within Penwith Hundred. (Modern Parishes such as Penzance, Newlyn St Peter and Halsetown (for example) can be covered under Madron, Paul and St Ives.) That list covers about 28 Parishes!!! Whilst it would be nice to be able to have a 'home' for each Parish of interest and I know many people would like a separate forum for numberous other surnames it is simply not practical. Remember that there are in excess of 220 Parishes in Cornwall! (And I'd hate to think just how many surnames of interest there might be! ) So as Trencrom says, for Breage and other Parishes in Kerrier Hundred there is a thread for 'Kerrier et al'. For subjects outside the covered areas the best thing is to probably start in the Queries section. CT
