Hi, I've just joined the site and am very new to genealogy, so am hoping to pick up lots of tips I initially found the site through researching the Lanyons from Sancreed, as my Grandmother's second husband was a Lanyon and I am very interested in the origins of his family. I am currently resident in Bristol, but my maternal Great Grandmother was a Penrose from St Just and her husband was a Chappell, also from St Just. That side of the family can trace their roots back many generations in Cornwall, however we know very little about my Grandmother's first husbands Father, a Robert Charles Williams, born in Australia. My Father's side of the family were Cornish only a few generations back, Gee family which I have traced back to Lichfield in Staffordshire and then to Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire. The trail has gone cold at that point. His Mother's family were Abrahams & Hopkins that lived in Inkpen/Hungerford/Newbury. I look forward to exploring the site more and furthering my research. Having just read the last introduction from Mike Ellis, I think that I am also likely to find a few distant cousins here Debs
