Hi All, great to find this site.
My Cornish ancestors were Chenhalls, from around St Just area. James Tregear Chenhalls and his wife May Banfield Taylor, migrated to Australia around 1869 after being married in Penzance.
They settled near Echuca, on the Murray River in Victoria, where the family ran a drapery for some years.
In the tree the Chenhalls side ancestry included Permewans, Bennetts (apparently not married), Penberthy, Nicles, Tremewan, Saundry, Vingoe and others.
On my most recent (brief) visit to Cornwall in October 2016, I was not able to find much more information, particularly I was scouring churchyards for headstones. Sadly most headstones over 150 years appear too weathered to read. Most of my "connections" through Ancestry.com appear solid, but there are a few odds and ends I hope to tidy up with the help of this site.
Cheers from Melbourne
