Hi One & All, My Great Grandfather was William Patrick Eddy Born 24/11/1875 Died 1963 He married Hannah Jenkins who died in 1926. I have found the family at The North Inn @ Pendeen, this being his Grandfather - William Eddy who was born in Morvah 1780 and died 1859 He was married to Jane Williams in 1834 (she was born in 1807. I can remember my Great Aunt telling me she was related to the White's, Williams & Rowe families of the area - apparently there was some connection to Benoni House? Anyway, I have since traced the family back to a Phillip Edye of Madron - he is listed in the HearthTax Return for 1664. I would love to hear from any potential relatives and anyone who has/is working on the family tree. It would appear likely that Eddy and Udy are one and the same - perhaps someone else would be interested in a DNA project? Oll an gwella, Davey Attachments:

Oll an gwella, Davey I have a few connections with Eddy, Udy and Udey families in my family tree, but have not pursued the connections to any extent. It seems that most Penwith families mingled together, and most that post on this board are related to some degree. I have had my DNA done, and after a little bit of a push from Zib and Spike, put it up on Genmatch. Completely unexpectedly it led to a American academic discovering some of the family background of her grandmother who was left as a foundling at a London orphanage before the turn of the last century! What a great outcome. Well done, Simon. Gedmatch can be found here: www.gedmatch.comAnd any one tempted to have their DNA tested, FTDNA is having a special on their basic Family Finder test. $69USD, normally $99. In their words: "Our signature autosomal DNA test that automatically finds DNA matches within five generations in our massive database includes myOrigins, a unique mapping tool that gives users a detailed ethnic and geographic breakdown of where your ancestors came from." Test available here www.familytreedna.com/sale.aspx The basic test can also be done through AncestryDNA. Disclosure: I had my DNA done at Ancestry where I have an account. I later paid a transfer fee to FTDNA ($39)to have it uploaded to their site.

Thank you very much indeed for responding - I have a hunch and a trail but it looks like DNA could be the way back in regards to the Eddy Edye Edy Udye & Udy . My direct line of the first ten has 6 William Eddys amongst them which has been interesting!!! My Great Grandfather would have lost his mother at the age of 6, at this time they had lived at The Square in Pendeen where his father was a grocer and draper and his Grandmother and family had The North Inn. Somehow, between the age of 6 and 16 William Patrick Eddy ends up in Mountain Ash, Glamorgan (1901 census) apparently but I can't find it for the life of me (this would tell whether he went with family ........?) Never did find out from my Grandfather as to why his father ended up in Wales (my Grandad returned and married a Padstow girl) So there are questions from the recent past and the distant if anyone is able to help?
