This is my first post so I hope I am getting things right. I am looking for any help that you good folks can give. My earliest male ancestor is Ishmael Holla born to Jane Holla in 1723, I know he was 'base born' and that Jane was excommunicated in 1723. However there seems to be a lot going on with this Jane or perhaps there was more than one Jane Holla in Zennor at this time. 1) Melchisedek Holla who died in 1723 was married to a Jane. 2) John Olliver (vicar) married Jane Holla in 1730. John Olliver was involved in the excommunication of Jane in 1723.
What I am trying to establish is, was Jane Holla the mother of Ishmael and Silas single or was she married to Melchisedek? Was John Olliver being courageous in marrying the same Jane Holla that he excommunicated seven years earlier?
A bit of a tangled web, If anybody has any answers I would very much like to know

There was more than one Holla/Hollow family at Zennor at the time in question so I am reasonably confident that the Jane Holla with sons Silas and Ishmael would have been a single woman. I can certainly rule out any connection with John Olliver (except for the ex-communication!) though as both John Olliver and the Jane Holla he married in 1730 were widowed. I belive this Jane to have been the widow of Arthur Holla whom she married at Zennor in 1687.
I have not done any work on the Holla/Hollow families at Zennor prior to 1713 as yet due to the lack of records available.

CT in you research of holla/hollow have you come across a Jane Hollow about 1850-1929 who married a John William Watson. She was born in Zennor then lived in Sennen. I think her father was John Hollow and mother Mary Thomas.

Yes, she was baptised at Zennor 11th February 1849 to John Hollow and Mary (nee Thomas). All I know of John William Watson is that he was born at Norfolk about 1845 or 6 son of John Charles Watson and that he was a Lighthouse Keeper. He would probably have been stationed on the Longships Lighthouse when he married Jane.
Also, I count eleven children to John William and Jane Watson.
