Closest is s/o Joseph 1781 and Bathsheba REED? marrired in 1800, they were having chn 1802-1819 wth John 1819. witnes1 was joseph glasson the only spare joseph that I have is s/o john and blanche kemp, assuming the witness is not his father Lots of guessing there, and assumptions. Other researchers have this joseph 1779 marrying mary carter in 1802 So back to who are the parents of the joseph 1781 who married Bathsheba?
John Reed Glasson having chn in SA with Louisa Cutting in 1890

OK, I am going to have to put some limits on the Glassons, and concentrate on those descendents of John 1685 and Verant as that leads directly to my Elizabeth Susan. Any of those who came to Australia is a bonus. It will mean that my family has some distant relatives who were here even though they didn't know it.

I have two Elizabeth Susan Glassons - both of whom went to Australia.
The first was the daughter of Benjamin Stephens Glasson and Joanna Banfield, born around 1840 and married Thomas Bolitho in Melbourne.
The second was the daughter of John Glasson and Frances Ann Clemens, born around 1859 and married Joseph Phillips in Adelaide.
Both ladies are descended from John Glasson and Dorothy Verrant as I have them recorded.

My Grandfather was Joseph Phillips, Elizabeth Susan was his first wife. She died in 1901 after having 5 children. They are the ones who have asked me to research the Glassons for them. I have most of the details of Benjamin Stephens G. Did any other children come to Australia? I found Elizabeth, Henry, John, Martha and Mary, have I missed any? I have found details of 10 chn of John 1759 and Bottral, and marriages for James and Benjamin. can you fill in any more? Thanks

I am only aware of two children travelling to Australia as indicated below: Of course John Banfield Glasson is of particular interest to me because he committed suicide in New Zealand, a similar end to his life as his father Benjamin Stephens Glasson in 1856 in Camborne. Detail below: John Banfield Glasson had three children, two survived their birth and after John's death his wife and two daughters returned to Australia.
I do not believe there were any more children other than the ones you mention.

Yes I would agree that the James Glasson who married Amelia Barrett in 1863 at St Day, aged 22 years, was the son of Charles Glasson and Elizabeth Thomas, married 1828 at Gwennap. However there is a real discrepancy with the birth of James. The birth certificate for the son of Charles and Elizabeth for 1841 states the birth name to be William Henry Glasson. However it is clear that the real William Henry Glasson was not born until 1844. Therefore I assumed that somewhere in the early days of the 1841 birth William Henry Glasson became James Glasson.
