Thanks for the suggestions, and I know I'm extending a bit by looking for other given names for Jane- I just don't have a lot else to go on. You two have been invaluable in your knowledge of Glassons in Cornwall, however it looks fairly clear that a baptism for my Whitstone Jane does not exist in Cornwall. I will keep you posted if I have any success in Devon.

Heather - at least you are using some imagination and considering things that might help lead to an answer.  But I don't know that it is 'clear' that there is no baptism in Cornwall for Jane.  The OPC and IGI/Familysearch do have pretty good coverage but there are still other things to consider. For example - North Petherwin is a Parish just South of Whitstone and there is very little available outside the Cornwall Record Office as far as parish registers are concerned. There are numerous other Parishes in the East of Cornwall for which the same problem applies so although they are 'foreign' as far as the Glasson name is concerned it is still possible that there 'might' be something there somewhere. Devon certainly needs to be explored but as has been previously mentioned it is County with limited availability of records at the moment.
