Hello Everyone, Seeking your advice again.
I have just been given copies of the following notes, which confirm that I have been following the right lines, but raises a few queries.
"The Ford Family - Helston, Cornwall.
Marriage in St. Germoe - Robert Ford to Margaret Serrell 1st January 1770.
Children: Margreat born 10.8.1770, baptized Oct 7th 1770. Anna Born 10.2.1773, Baptized Mch 13, 1773. Robart Born 28.8.1775, Baptized Nov 5, 1775. Marey Born 24.6.1778. Baptized Sep 6th, 1778. George Born 8.4.1781. Baptised July 22nd 1781. --
In the "OLD BOOK" (Would I love to see the original!) given to Robert Ford Bryant by his mother Anna Bryant (nee Ford), written on the top of the book were the words "Mrs Foard, Helston", underneath note the names of this family tree & Robert & Margaret were spelt ROBART & MARGREAT. Anna Bryant's father was the eldest son, born 28/8/1775 and he (Robert Ford Jnr.) married Grace Williams of Perranuthnoe at St. Perran's Church on 22/2/1800. Their daughter ANNA was born onJune 19th, 1818, baptised on 13/12/1818 7 died on 23rd June 1902. She was baptized in St. Perran's Church & buried in St. Perran's Church, Perranuthnoe. Robert Ford, father of Anna Ford, remarried Elizabeth Bawden in 1829 after his first wife (Grace William's) death. He was killed working as a miner, in a mine at Lancamshire Reef near Rosudgeon by dirt falling on him. He died on Feb 22nd 1838 aged 62 years. The date of death Feb 22nd was the same as his Marriage date Feb 22nd to Grace Williams. A grand daughter of Emily Bryant who married Frederick William Perfect, told the write that Great Granny Bryant (Anna nee Ford) remembers her father wearing silver buckles on his shoes. It is understood he was a Clerk in the Mines."
With the children of Robert and Margaret, unless one had the original notes, it is possible that there were two more daughters after 1781, which for some reason were not included. Does anyone have an original copy of these baptisms, because on the OPC and Family Search, (they are recorded at Breage and Germoe), Margreat and Marey have their mother's name as Mary not Margaret and I feel this must be a transcription error.
I cannot find the 2nd marriage in 1829 of Robert Ford Jrn. to Elizabeth Bawden. It is possible that they lived together and just said they were married, but I would be interested to find out for sure.
I'm a bit rusty on the site and I am not sure if I asked before for help in finding the death of Robert Ford who married Margaret Serrell (variants). I believe that Robert was born in 1745 at Breage to William Ford and Elizabeth Richards. Margaret died 1823 aged 73 and is buried at Germoe residence Breage. The only thing I know from the children's baptisms is that Robert was a tinner. Many thanks.
