I have a headstone from Barnoon Cemetery, St Ives taken in 1997 (by me). It reads the following: "Richard Quick of Trewellard St Just (formerly St Ives) who departed this life 21st December 1896 aged 71 years In the midst of life we are in death Also Catherine Williams neice of the above who died 20 Nov 1918 aged 64 years Also Louisa Hodge sister of the above who died 14th October 1919 aged 66 years" NOW: I know who Richard Quick is (son of John Quick and Mary Couch bap Mylor 1825. I know who Catherine is (daughter of Richard's sister Catherine Ann who married Charles Lewis WIlliams) BUT I do not know who Louisa Hodge is especially as she is not the sister of Richard as she would have been 101yrs at death. I am wondering if there was a typo on the headstone and that she is also a neice of Richard and the daughter of Louisa Johanna Quick and Richard Hichens Hodge. any suggestions

How about Louisa Hodge born about 1854 St Ives to Richard Hichens Hodge and Louisa Johanna Quick? That would actually make her a niece to Richard Quick via his sister Louisa Johanna. In fact by my reading of the information provided Louisa Hodge is a sister to Catherine Williams who in turn is niece to Richard Quick. Catherine Ann, sister to Richard Quick, married John May Kernick at St Ives 27th August 1850 (I can find no marriage in FreeBMD between Charles Lewis Williams and anyone named Quick - in fact I can find no evidence of a Charles Lewis Williams marrying anyone named Catherine!) My apologies!!! Charles Louis Williams married Catherine HODGE in 1883. So it is as I said - Catherine Williams (nee Hodge) was a niece to Richard Quick and Louisa Hodge was sister to Catherine. Louisa Hodge, spinster of Dray Cot Tce, St Ives, age 66, daughter of R H Hodge (dec.) was buried 17th October 1919 Barnoon Cemetery, St Ives CT

The1911 census shows Louisa Hodge as single, living in the Williams household, along with her sister Mary Hughes and recorded as sister in law of Charles Louis Williams...13 Draycot Terrace, St Ives. Hope that helps. OOps...beaten to the punch by CT

;D Thanks guys,
my old records clearly need reviewing... I was making an assumption that the Catherine Williams in Richard probate was his sister, but it is clearly his neice!
