Yet ANOTHER new member joined our forum yesterday and IMMEDIATELY POSTED INAPPROPRIATELY!!! I had a hint of what was to come when I noticed the USERID contained the word 'game' and on checking out the initial post in the Welcome section I found what I had suspected. Unfortunately (or perhaps very fortunately ) I could not understand most of the post as it was written almost totally in an ASIAN LANGUAGE!! I do not care where a person comes from but I thought this was just little rude. That aside - the bottom line is that the member appears to have joined this forum for the sole purpose of Advertising, recuiting people for purposes of gaming or inappropriate messaging. THE MEMBER WAS IMMEDIATELY BANNED!!! CT

Hi CT Of course every genuine member of Penwith Genealogy is as frustrated as you are with the activities of the hijackers who subvert the use of the site and banning is the obvious response. However it strikes me that these hijackers can very easily invent another identity. Surely the thing to do is to delete the posts and not leave them on the site complete with all the active links? By leaving them the purpose of the hijacker i.e publicity is achieved.

I agree Roger and that had been my initial approach. But having tried that to little effect I decided to try leaving some more pointed reminders that such activity will not be tolerated here. Your point is very good and I might have to revert to that policy of simply deleting the posts and banning each and every new member who obviously joins for purposes other than genealogical research and discussion.
