I am putting together a section of the Curnow family, where I would appreciate thoughts as to whether I seem to have got it right.......
It is William Curnow baptized 6 May 1821 Madron of Mulfra to William & Mary.
The parents were William Curnow 1794 son of the William Curnow~Alice Stevens marriage, and his 2nd wife Mary Hall.
William 1821 was one of about 11 children to this couple, at least 5 of whom died pre-marriageable age.
Now, William 1821 I have marrying at Zennor 30 Jan 1842 to Margaret Richards of Tregurthen, father John. Margaret already has a son James c1841, per 1851.
1841 they are at Sperris Zennor, 1851 Barvella St Ives/Halsetown; the children I have for them are Mary Ann 1842 Zennor, later housemaid then “idiot”; William 30 Mar 1845 Zennor; Elizabeth Jan 1851 St Ives; Margaret 8 May 1853 St Ives, buried I believe 8 Dec 1865 St Ives of Halsetown age 12; Thomas c1854 St Ives.
Now, despite Margaret the wife being 28 in the 1851 transcription I have seen, I wonder if that should be 38, as I think she may be buried 14 Jun 1858 St Ives age 46.
I think widow William remarried 31 Oct 1858 St Ives to Jane Allen widow, nee Richards. (Why hang about? )
William & his 2nd wife are 1861 & 1871 at Stennack, St Ives/Halsetown, by 1871 49 and 59 respectively.
I think Jane is likely the death Sep Q 1871 age 54, as I believe William married for the 3rd time 6 Oct 1872 Halsetown, to Elizabeth Ann Burt age 33, spinster daughter of Charles. As ever, a wife with baggage of previous children......
Now, I reckon William died not much later, probably Jun Q 1853 age 53, as 1881 his widow Elizabeth 42 is at Back Street St Ives charring, with children James Burt “Curnow” 16 & Elizabeth M B “Curnow” 14.
1891 widow Elizabeth 46 plus Burt daughter Mary Elizabeth Curnow 22 is charring at Trelyon St Ives; lodger Richard Perkin, 47 tailor.
Which would make her the marriage St Ives 9 Jun 1895 51, father Charles Murt, to Richard Perkin Veal 49 mariner – I think!
Does that look right, despite age and name slippages?
