Hello all,
Well, I have been looking into the family of Blanch Rowlinge who married William Rogers at Sancreed on 26/1/1694. Going through the Sancreed registers for 1600 onwards it seems there are a lot of possible spellings for Blanch's ancestors!! I imagine this is quite common?
I am working on the idea that Blanch was Blanch, daughter of Thomas Rawlin and Nane, baptised at Sancreed on 19/5/1658. Guessing that Thomas and Nane may have married at Sancreed I found a marriage for Thomas Ralinge and Nane Randall on 29/11/1655. Possible siblings for Blanch include the following:
Willyam - Son of Thomas Rowlins and Nan bap at Sancreed, 19/10/1656
Aves - Dau of Thomas Rawlinge and Nan bap at Sancreed, 18/8/1667
Also possible are the following however there would be quite a gap and the Mother's name is not quite the same:
Elizabeth dau of Thomas Rawlin and Ann bap at Sancreed, 1673
Cordelia dau of Thomas Rawlin and An bap at Sancreed, 26/8/1677
Now, here is the interesting thing
. On 24/11/1666 I found a burial at Sancreed for Blanch Rawlin, dau of Thomas! This suggests she died at the age of 8. There are no further records to suggest that they had another daughter called Blanch however my only light at the end of the tunnel is a Will for a Thomas Rowling of Sancreed which was proven on 19/10/1709, this makes sense as there is a burial record for a Thomas Rowling at Sancreed on 2/2/1708.
Does anyone know if I can get a copy of that Will posted to me? I found it at the Records Office and while I'm not far from Truro I don't get up there that often!
I searched the Madron registers and had no luck finding any Rowlings's but will keep plugging on. Any suggestions would be gratefully received - I think there must have been another Blanch born after the first one died. The first one would have been at least 36 when she got married meaning she had her last child and died at the age of 52, not impossible but unlikely?!
Going back a bit further the only Randall I can find baptised in Sancreed is that of Annes Randall, base child of John Randall and Annes Gibes on 28/3/1634
. A bit more digging required but a possibility for Nane? A possibility for Thomas is the one baptised at Sancreed on 21/10/1630, son of John Rawlings.
Any hints on how to get hold of that Will and surname spelling tips would be gratefully received!
