Despite having a copy of the Phillimores Parish Registers, I can't find a certain marriage for Nicholas TRESISE
From somewhere I have the information that Nicholas married Jane GREINDFIELD on 28 Apr 1688. In my copy of Phillimore there is an incomplete transcript of _____ TRESISE and Jane STOYLE for that date. Any thoughts or has someone got a different transcript.
Cheers in advance.

There are two entries involved in the solution to this little dilemma. My copies of the images for that part of the St Just register are very dark in places and so some information is almost impossible to see let alone read. But the entry for April 28th 1688 appears to have a word that is not included in the Phillimore transcription and comparisons with entries following this one indicate there may be room for another word. After enhancing the image as much as I can I am almost sure the word is wid]. If you turn your Phillimore back one page you will find this:- James Stoyle & Jane Grenfield ................. 11 Feb. Once again the image is difficult to read but the year, I believe, is 1681. NOTE - I always quote dates as they appear in the registers. So the information you have is technically correct given that Jane Stoyle appears to have been a widow when she married Nicholas Tresize. These images are available online in the Cornwall Parish Registers collection in FamilySearch if you want to have a look for yourself. CT

Cheers for that CT. Just checked on the St Just burials and found that James STOYLE was buried 8 Jun 1683 which reaffirms likelihood of Jane GRENFIELD (GRENFELL?) being the Jane STOYLE who married Nicholas TREZISE.

Excellent - it always pays to find corroborating if possible.
