Hopefully our local Redruth lady may be able to answer this one.
Would the Cornish Studies Library or the Archive at Truro hold any misc. deeds or leases that are not in the A2A Catalogue and were not recorded by Henderson?
I am trying to find anything on Henry Edwards of Lelant (1600-1679) that directly mentions either the name of his wife or his son Thomas. I know who his wife is, but I would like some more direct evidence; what I have right now is complicated to say the least....
Another approach to the same problem would be if I could find any document that proves the maiden name of Mary, w/o Alexander Banfield of Lelant/Ludgvan.

Zenobia: a question for you re Henderson. I notice that a lot of the Henderson volumes as filmed by LDS are unindexed in the films concerned, do you know if RIC/Courtney lib have indexes for all the volumes ? Also, are there other Henderson works that have not been filmed by LDS, or are the ones covered by LDS the lot?

To trencrom, I've not been able to find the Henderson films in the LDS catalogue. Can you tell me how they are indexed, please?
Did you ever find out about the Henderson indexing at the Courtney? Maybe a direct enquiry to the librarian, Angela Broome, at RIC@royalcornwallmuseum.org.uk would get the answer - I've always found her very helpful.

Donne, I found them through the LDS locality catalogue for Cornwall, using the fiche version. All the general stuff for Cornwall is right at the start, before you get to the catalogue holdings for the individual parishes, and i was browsing in that portion of the same seeing what material was available that might be worth investigating. You can't miss it -- it is a large entry as there are something like eight reels involved, and it gives you a breakup of what topics are covered in each film. Hope this helps Trencrom

Thanks. I turned up this using the on-line LDS library catalogue and doing an author search for Charles Henderson:
History of Lamorran History of St. Just in Roseland History of St. Stephens in Branel History of the hundred of Kerrier, pedigrees and notes Materials for a history of Ladock & Probus Notes about the Trewinnard and Nepean families St. Ives : its patron saint and its church
and under Charles G Henderson there was:
Calendars of Cornish mss Cornish mss. at Nettlecombe court in Somerset History of the hundred of Powder, pedigrees and notes Is this the material you had in mind? I've emailed the Courtney Lib to ask if they have an index for the Henderson Calendar - I'll post here any reply I get.

This is what Angela Broome from the Courtney Libarary says in her reply: "We have a card index under parishes to the Henderson Calendars. However, we are currently inputting onto the CALM database the indexes to the whole of the Henderson Collection. This is incomplete at the present time but the work has progressed sufficiently for us to search under a specific keyword or date. "

In case you were wondering, as I was, what that means I queried the above and received the following clarification from Angela Broome:
"CALM, as far as we know, stands for Cataloguing for Archives, Libraries and Museums but it is always referred to simply as CALM. The versions we are using is CALM for Archives.
At the moment, because this is work in progress, the database is only accessible in the Library but we are happy to do a search for you on a key word or date and let you know the result. We have not decided yet whether to put it on-line via A2A or some other website host."

Sorry to be so tardy. Here is what the LDS has for Henderson:
Hemderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 1-3, Misc. deeds, fines, court records---------------231929 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 4-6, knight's service, deeds, Padstow crt roll-------231930 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 6-9 deeds, Sitwell collection-----------------------231931 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 10-12 Bishop's Register, Penwith Deeds, etc.----------231932 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 13-16 Mitchell crt rolls, Manor rentals---------------231933 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 17-18 Merthen & Grills deeds, misc. deeds-------------231934 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 19 Menabilly Deeds---------------------------------231935 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 20-23 Rashleigh, Trelawney, deeds, manors-------------231936 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 24-27 ancient deeds, misc., Launceston----------------231937 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 27-30 Tresillian, Hill, Painter deeds-----------------231938 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 31-34 St. Germans, Launceston, misc.------------------231939 Henderson's Cornish Manuscripts, V. 37, 43, 65 freeholders 1450, misc. deeds-------------------231940
As there are volumes numbers missing I would assume that there are other volumes of his collection that have not been filmed, but I could be wrong.

I tried to respond sooner but the logon did not work for whatever reason.
Yes, the "Calendars of Cornish MSS" is what I had in mind.
Looks like Henderson has written some other material -- the stuff on Powder hundred could prove invaluable for folk with interests there.
Thanks donne for this information.
It would be interesting to know what the "missing" later volumes mentioned by Zenobia contain.
