when the immigration chaps ask you if you have a crimimnal record, please don't reply " I didn't know it was still compulsory in order to get into Oz" It didn't do me any favours!!
Only joking, by the way!!

Does it still only cost a Tenner for a Pom to get to Oz? or am I a bit out of date on that?

I started in Sydney for a week. Then picked up a camper van ... drove to Canberra, then to Newcastle. Up the coast over 30 days to drop off camper in Cairns so I stopped in Coffs Harbour, Port Maq, Ballina/Byron Bay, Surfer's Paradise, Beerwah (Aussie Zoo), Noosa, Hervey Bay(Fraser Island), Mackay, Airlie Beach(Whitsunday's), Townsville, Daintree Rainforest. I did a sailboat trip in Whitsunday's, a great Barrier Reef Snorkelling trip, then flew to Alice Springs for a 5 day Safari around Central Desert(Uluru, Kata Tjuta, King's Canyon, Palm Valley, and Ormiston's Gorge). Then took the train to Adelaide, booked a Kangaroo Island trip. Played in World Championships of Croquet for 2 weeks in Adelaide. I then wrapped up the tour renting a car driving the great ocean road and spending 3 days in Melbourne.
