As yet another episode in the saga of rise and decline of mining in Cornwall, I came across the followiing news item about a Canadian mining company wanting to buy a stake in South Crofty. Celeste Copper Corporation wants to buy an intial 25% stake in South Crofty, with mineral rights extending over 150 square kms around Pool near Camborne. High mineral prices mean that it's worth exploiting these reserves again, but since the mine closed in 1998 I doubt there are any Cornish miners left to work there.
