I would have my doubts about this one.
Townshend is down near Crowan and Breage and William Henry had been in Camborne for quite a number of years in 1914.
In fact William Henry was living at home with his widowed mother at Camborne by 1901 when they can be found in the Census at 22 Albert Street.
In FreeBMD there is a death entry that might be him but his age would not be correct.
June Qtr 1917
Redruth R.D.
William H Berryman age 47
William would actually have been about 50 at this time but I think this is more likely to be your William.
Part of why I think it is more likely is because of this entry:-
June Qtr 1957
Redruth R.D.
Lillie Berryman age 72
But even Lillie's age would not be correct and even the earlier Census records are inconsistent with her age.
If the information I have found is correct then Lillie was actually born in 1870 - but more of that later.
NO - this is not quite correct.
I don't have his actual birthdate but William Henry was actually baptised 20th February 1867 at Crowan to Charles and Mary Berryman.
But his parents were Charles Berryman and Mary BERRYMAN and they were married in the September Qtr of 1866 Helston R.D.
The marriage is not in the Crowan PR so I am no sure just where it took place.
Charles and Mary were both of Crowan and the children were baptised in the Established Church so I suspect possibly the Registry Office would be where they married.
I need to find a copy of that marriage record to be absolutely certain that I have all the links correct
but from the information I have found I am reasonably confident.
Charles Berryman was baptised 11th February 1846 at Crowan son of Henry Berryman and Grace Rodda who married 17th October 1840 at Crowan.
There were a couple of reasons why it took me so long to figure this lot out.
1. in 1871 there was an Eliza Berryman staying with Charles and Mary and she was recorded as 'sister'.
As the relationship is supposed to be to the head of the family then it appeared she was a sister to Charles.
But if that was correct then Charles' age was incorrect and instead of being age 26 he should have been age 29.
And this meant that the 'other' Charles who was recorded as age 29 should have been age 26.
But that did not make sense as everything else pointed to my initial information being correct.
It was only once I found the maiden name of Mary that things began to fall into place.
As it turned out Eliza was Mary's sister and not Charles!
And Mary and Eliza were sisters of the 'other' Charles.
Mary was born about 1846 at Crowan daughter of William Berryman and Mary Rodda who married at Crowan 16th February 1833.
Eliza was the youngest child of William and Mary and was baptised at Crowan 10th March 1859 - her father William was buried 20th September 1860 at Crowan.
I know this is all confusing
and my head is still spinning after trying to work it all out!
But there appears to be no immediate connection between the two families - at least not as far as I can see at the moment.
Mary's brother Charles appears to have married Mary Ann Jewell in the September Qtr of 1869 in the Helston R.D.
I will try and explain a little about the Stone family in another post.
