I have found the word Chycoanse used in the 1887 will of a relative of mine. Seems to be a place name that I thought was geographical in nature but might be a cottage or farm name/description. My relative was known to live in Sancreed Parish in Brane. He lived on and did work a farm in or near Brane with one son and his wife. Nearest modren reference seems to be Chycall Barn in the same area. Can anyone help with Chycoanse or at least point me in the right direction?

The name of a house or property would seem the most likely answer given that 'Chy' means 'House'. But I cannot find anything that might equate to the remainder of the name. CT

Chi - house, and probably caunse/kons - pavement/causeway.
