On www.freebmd.org.uk/you will find Stella E Tenbeth born in the quarter ending Jun 1914 in the Penzance Registration District; mother by the surname of Barnes. Then if you look at the transcribed records on www.cornwall-opc-database.org/you will see a marriage 2 February 1890 in Penzance between mariner Thomas Edwin Tenbeth and Emily Kingscotte Barnes.

There are 33 trees for Thomas Tenbeth on Ancestry. The first few I've looked at don't include Stella, with the last child being born in 1909. They also have Thomas born in Canada (which might be correct). Anywho, Thomas is in the 1939 Register. Emily, the wife, died in 1927. He's living with the eldest daughter, Mary, and her husband Robert Lacey. With them is his son Thomas J(ames) born 15 Jan 1903. Also we have an entry for Stella E Gribble with the surname changing to Stevens possibly in 1945. Her dob is showing as 19 Feb 1916. So if this is "gran" then 1916 is wrong or the 1914 Stella didn't survive.

Okay, here are a few things to help clear up what appears to be a little confusion here. Stella Eileen Tenbeth married Joel Roberts Laity in the Redruth Registration District in 1934, possibly at Camborne. Joel Roberts Laity was born at Camborne 27th December 1909 and baptised at Breage 27th February 1910 to Samuel Laity and Alice Ann Roberts. Joel Roberts Laity's death was registered in the Truro Registration District in 1972 and confirmed his date of birth as noted above. Stella Eileen Laity's death was registered in the Camborne-Redruth Registration District in Jul 2000 and confirmed her date of birth as 19th April 1914. I already had all of the family of Thomas Edwin Tenbeth in my database and I can confirm that ALL of his children were born at Penzance. Emily Kingscoat Tenbeth of New Street Penzance age 57 was buried at Penzance 20th July 1927 having died at the Cornwall Mental Hospital at Bodmin. CT
