Hi
Was the John Paynter married to Prudence Quick 17 Feb 1765 St Ives the son of Thomas and Christian Paynter (nee Wall) baptised 27 Dec 1735 in St Ives?
I can find 5 children for Thomas and Christian Paynter baptised in St Ives Christian bpt 1726 Thomas bpt 1729 William bpt 1732 John bpt 1735 Edward bpt 1736
John Paynter married Prudence Quick in 1765 which if he is the correct John would make his age about 30 at time of marriage?
I can find 3 children for John and Prudence Paynter baptised in St Ives Christian bpt 1768 Prudence bpt 1770 John bpt 1773

I was only looking at this family a short time ago - albeit from the Quick side of things. Some years ago I did a little work on the Paynter family and I worked out then that it was probable John was the son of Thomas and Christian. The fact that his four children, in birth order, were Thomas, Christian, Prudence and John speaks volumes I think! But John also had another sibling - Mary daughter of Thomas and Christian Paynter buried 10th November 1732 at St Ives. Thomas son of THOMAS and Prudence Paynter was baptised 18th August 1765 at St Ives. This is certainly (my opinion) an error in the PR and he is in fact the son of JOHN and Prudence. I have certainly never been able to find a marriage for a Thomas Paynter to Prudence anywhere - at least nowhere near the right time. Prudence Paynter, wife of John, was buried 24th July 1776 at St Ives. CT

Hi CT Helps to bounce ideas thanks ;D I think given that John Paynter named a daughter Christian that his parents were Thomas Paynter and Christian Wall. I saw the Thomas son of Thomas and Prudence Paynter baptised 18 Aug 1765 and wondered about it as I also could not find a marriage btw a Thomas Paynter and a Prudence so it is quite probable that it is an error and that Thomas is the son of John and Prudence. Thanks for pointing out the burial of Mary Paynter in 1732 I did not find a baptism for her. Sarch

I have not been able to find a baptism for Mary either but it may be tucked away in fine print between some other entries in the PR.
