Hi all;
I just learned of another possible child for my ancestor's family.
I am looking for in formation on Caroline Toy born 1854 or 1856 and died early abt 1861. Her Parents I have are well documented, they are Robert Toy born October 11, 1810, died june 1890; and Catherine Toy (nee Williams) born April 4, 1815, died abt 1873. Robert and Catherine married August 8, 1836 in St. Ives and lived in St. Ives the rest of their lives.
Thanks for any help with this "lost" child.

Hmm. FreeBMD 1850 – 1870 search for death of Caroline Toy in UK gives only Sep 1860 Toy Caroline in Birmingham .
Of course it is possible she may have died whilst away visiting, or whilst the family were trying out the Birmingham area. However, there is a Robert Toy who also dies in the Birmingham area, approx same age as your Robert Toy: Sep 1873 Toy Robert 64 Birmingham. And there are many many other Toys in Birmingham.
Back to Caroline: there are 5 Caroline Toys born Sep 1837 to 1860 including some in Cornwall – but none in the Penzance district, where St Ives is. But one is born in the Birmingham area: Sep 1853 TOY Caroline in Aston, so probably she who died in Sep Q 1860.
You might want to double check your source for the information on young Caroline.

I have come across Caroline Toy bap 5.3.1855 Stithians parents are Henry and Polly Toy.
Also Caroline Toy born 1857 St Ives and living with a Humphrey and Eliza Toy.
Caroline Toy born 1860 Gwennap and living with Paul and Amelia Toy.
The above two couples are not down as being parents of the Carolines mentioned. Other children on the same record are down as being daughters and sons.

Snydly - I think what we need to do here is check the foundations! What is the exact source for this reference to Caroline and also to her being another possible child of Robert and Catherine? How is this information worded? If we can establish something here at ground level then we should know for a start whether or not it is a goose we are chasing! CT
