I can confirm <cough> that they are downloadable. My husband found a copy of this in the Cornwall family history society library. He then went on the hunt for it and found it on that site. He's related to the grylls of lanreath i think. There's a blooming huge monument in lanreath church to them

CT, Ron here, back from my adventures into Scotland. I have this habit that I'm supplied with a bit of information from the family and away I go and end up sidetracked. I was planning to chase the other part of the family from North Cornwall but I found myself hunting through Fife, Scotland looking for my fathers, fathers side of the tree. But whilst doing this chasing I had my feelers out and about for Mary Bowhay again and some kind people have sent through some information that seems to narrow things down a little bit, not much but it helps in the chase. I think I can narrow down Mary to just a couple (which we looked at back when). Here's my most likely chances. There was a Mary Bowhay born/christened 26 Jan 1700 at Callington with fathers name John Bowhay. (Yes, we have seen this one and considered it closely, now back to it). There was also a Mary Bowhay born/christened 10 May 1716 at Callington also fathers name was John Bowhay (again we looked seriously at this one too) and finally. Mary Bowhay born/christened 25 Apr 1723 at Stoke Climsland with father named Sampson amd mother named Judith. There is a will left by Sampson at CRO dated 1758 (AP/B/4058), so I'm going to look at this and see if he mentions a Mary Grills (as a daughter) and if so then this would sort of point the finger, I guess! So these are the 3 Mary's I hve seemed to come back too, as all the others locations mean diddlysquat to me. Places like 1712 at Tresmeer, 1714 at North Hill, 1726 at St Stephens by Launceston and there is one other in 1702 but not birth location. Not sure if they are near Callington, St Mellion etc. Cheers Ron PS. Hi Cowdogsam, The History of the Grills or Grylls, a Cornish Clan is available on the Internet and has some interesting family trees attached. Part of the tree that relates to the family in Australia was helped compiled by one of my relatives on my fathers mother side that being a Percy Grills b. 1933 in a place named Kurri Kurri. Which is located near Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia. This is where my part of the family settled and have been around there 'forever'. Cheers Ron

G'day Ron and thanks for the latest update. With a bit of luck that Will of Sampson might offer up the answers/clues that are required so I am sure it will be an interesting read. The three Parishes you have mentioned are all basically North of Callington. North Hill - head Northwest from Callington through South Hill and Linkinhorne and it is the next Parish. St Stephen by Launceston is due North with the Tamar as the Eastern border. To the West is Egloskerry and adjoining Egloskerry on the Northwest is Tresmeer. Will await the results of your viewing of the Will. CT

Hi All My wife is a descendant of John Grills via his son Thomas and i have been doing some research into him and have found a few things that people may be interested in.
As this thread has had no new posts in a long time i will just list the points and if anybody would like the details i will do another post
1. John & Rebecca had 2 children in Sandwich before they went to Australia.
2. John & Rebecca travelled aboard the Marquis of Hastings in 1827. One of the children possibly dying on the journey.
3. Amelia Susannah White (who married Johns son William Frederick) WAS married 4 times to WILLIAMS, GRILLS, MILLINGTON & CHUTER.
4. In 1859 John was sentenced to 7 days in jail at Newcastle NSW for non payment of a fine of £1. He paid the fine the same day!
Why does Johns military record state he was born in Liskeard (which is a long way from Penwith) Also his military record gives his approximate DOB as 1873.
Thanks. Looking forward to some replies (Hopefully!)
