Hi everyone! I wrote a book 7 years ago called Cornish Roots and it is about my G G Grandfather Josiah Hampton and his family. through lots of hard work i managed to track down his diary and transcribe all of it, inc his passage to Australia in 1847 on the Rajah. . Josiah's father was William Hampton who died on May 26th 1842 aged 49years. William married to Phillippa Kessel on the 1st of Dec 1817, daughter of Martyn and Rachel Kessel. William and Phillippa's children were Josiah, Richard, Mary Anne William and Phillippa. Now here is my big problem, i cannot find William Hamptons parents. I have all of the Hampton family trees from Illoggan, Redruth, Nancekuke Downs, etc, back to 1600 but i cant put William in any of them even though many U.K researchers i have corresponded with know they are all related and have told me this many times. They threw up there arms, lol, and left it up to me to make this breakthrough. I have tried for 7 years and i think i need some help, many have tried to solve it but nobody has to date. I think i know what branch they are from because of the names but cant prove it yet. My Mother was Joyce Hampton and i wrote this Cornish Roots book for her before she died in 2003. Can anybody help me with this as i would like to finish up the book and have it published. also it is a wealth of info for many people as it has many cornish names reffered to by Josiah in it. (James Jeffrey, Pascoe, Gilbert, George and many more). They were all his friends or relatives. Also Josiah was a witness to the opening of the new Church in Illoggan and his brothers and sisters were the 1st to be baptised in the new church. the official history of this church is wrong, as they have dated it out by a few days, it is all in the diary and he swore to the lord it was true. Josiah seen James Jeffery leave for Aus and also mentions this too. He even has a recipe ginger beer and gettin rid of pyles, lol, and much much more. Thank you all in advance. David Lee.
