HMMMMMM! A couple of interesting things you have mentioned here. Andrew Tyack - 1708 I can see your point - EXCEPT that we have a burial of Apr 4th 1708 at St Ives for Andrew Tyack. The - Hoblyn/B.T.'s) a baptism for Andrew Tyack at Towednack October 31st 1708. That all fits just fine. One child died, next one (six months later) given the same name. Except John Tyack has made a mistake, because we have looked at the transcript, and there is no burial. He apparently looked at the records more than once, and on one of the occasions he forgot he was looking at baptisms and put it down as a burial (I have done the same thing myself - it is easy enough to do) Now, all we know for certain is that the second Andrew predeceased his mother. Since we have no marriage or children for him, he probably died young. The next 'black hole' of Towednack occurs in 1709-1710, so he very likely died then.

KEY POINT - we have looked at the TRANSCRIPT! So we are dealing with what someone else has read (or tried to read) and are working from it? Let's think about it and see if we might get some better eyes on the 'original' to try and clear this one up?

Sounds like a good idea, if you are referring to the original parish register for Towednack. But the question is, where is it? Is it even still extant? LDS only filmed the transcript (same for Zennor), even tho' most of their Cornish filmings are of the original registers. So they apparently were not able to get their hands on the original for Towednack, which to me makes it seem unlikely that any of we poor mortals would be able to do so.... So I have to go on the assumption that John Tyack never viewed the original records for the PR. On the other hand, maybe the Cornish Studies Library at Redruth holds them. They certainly have the original of the early BTs for the same, as I have copies So, has John Tyack seen the original, do you know? What was the source he gave you? I am greatly disturbed by the image of poor little Andrew Tyack being christened, then dying and being dumped into the ground still warm...

I am fairly sure the originals are at the CRO in Truro but, if need be, I can get our 'Sleuth on the spot' (Nancy) to find out for us.
As for the bp./bu. same day scenario - don't be to concerned about that as I have seen it many times in the records. The child may have been deceased for a day or two and a PM Baptism performed just prior to Burial.
