Hello Poppy, Cross referencing between the igi for Nicholas THOMAS baptisms in St.Just, and the West Penwith Resources site listing marriages I would suggest her name was Anne HOCKING, and she married William in 1804. The only baptisms for a Nicholas THOMAS in St Just around 1815 listed on the igi are: 15 May 1815, Nicholas son of William and Ann THOMAS & 25 June 1815 Nicholas son of William and Ann THOMAS You would need someone to check these entries, to establish whether we have 2 separate baptisms here, or if one has been entered twice due to the prior entry being incorrect date? There appear to be 10 other baptisms at reasonable intervals for a William and Ann THOMAS in St.Just from 1804 to 1824, and none of the dates 'overlap' suggesting just one family baptising their children as they were born. There is also the possibilty of Nicholas baptised 22 July 1819 to William and Margaret. Not so clear cut here, as there are two marriages of a William THOMAS to a Margaret: 1796 Margaret NEKERWIS & 1807 Margaret ROBERTS. And the 1819 baptism is out on its own, the prior baptism to any William and Margaret being in 1815. Hope this helps in some way, Mike

The two baptisms for Nicholas may well be for the same child.
In both events William Thomas was a miner and the residence was Carnyorth.
There does not seem to be another likely marriage for William Thomas and Ann so I would suggest the probability that Ann Hocking is who you are looking for.

Hi Myghaelangof and CT , Many thanks for your help. There are also two Baptisms for Nicholas Thomas 1815 on the St Just in Penwith, CD I have. There are twelve Baptisms of children for William and Ann starting 1806-1830. The first child being Jenefer 1806, which is a name not followed through in my family, so it threw me. As you say the children's birth years don't over lap, so it must all be the same family...so Ann Hocking it is Poppy

Hi Poppy, I reckon Jenefer was the second child. How about John baptised 21 November 1804? The marriage was 5th May 1804. Carnyorth and Trewellard are just a stones throw apart on that beautiful stretch of coast. Regards Mike

Jenefer may not feature in your family but I wouldn't mind a bob or two on the odd Jane having turned up. Jenefer and Jane were very much interchangeable so the girl who was baptised as Jenefer might well have grown up and married as Jane. CT
