Dear Folks
I’m researching a young woman - Elizabeth Jane BALL who married Thomas SHUGG, 30 March 1869, Reg. Office, Adelaide, South Australia. I’m wondering if anyone has researched this BALL family, and can provide me with any further information.
I found 2 registered births on FreeBMD for Elizabeth Ball: • Mar Qtr 1850, St Columb RD, or • Dec Qtr 1850, Tavistock RD.
Her parents were William James Ball and Elizabeth Jane Bailey (according to her death record), and they married Jan-Mar 1850 Redruth Reg. District.
The 1861 Census shows: Piece: RG9/1595 Place: Penzance -Cornwall Enumeration District: 24 Civil Parish: Madron Ecclesiastical Parish: Penzance Folio: 41 Page: 20 Schedule: 110 Address: Coinage Hall St
Ball, William, Head, 28, Cordwainer, born Penzance Ball, Elizabeth, wife, 36, born Penzance Ball, William John, son, 3, born Penzance Ball, Elizabeth, dau, 10, scholar, born Penzance.
From this William James Ball was born c.1833 and wife Elizabeth Jane Bailey was born c.1825. No luck on the IGI with their baptisms.
They emigrated to Australia between 1861 and 1869, but I’ve not found a shipping record into South Australia.
Many thanks for any help with this one. Kind regards,
Rowena In Melbourne
