Happy New Year to you all!
I am trying to track the lineage of Wilmot Curnow, my 6x great grandmother who married Paul Quick at Towednack on 1 Aug 1718.
Generation 0: At the moment I am assuming that this Wilmot was baptised on 24 Nov 1700 at Towednack, the daughter of Robert Curnow. (This would suggest that Wilmot was probably 17-18 years old when she married Paul Quick).
Generation -1: I further assume that Wilmot’s father Robert Curnow married Wilmot Rosewall on 29 Apr 1693 in Towednack, and I suspect that this is also the Robert (yeoman of Towdnack) who left a will dated 1744 and who was buried at Towednack on 4 Feb 1744/5. I have not come across a transcription of this 1744 will – do you know if one is available?
Generation -2: It would appear that Robert Curnow, married 1693, was the son of Robert Curnow who left a will dated 8 Mar 1684/5 and who was buried 28 Jun 1685.
Generation -3: I am also assuming that the Robert Curnow who left a will dated 8 Mar 1684/5 was the son of Thomas Curnow who left a will dated 30 Oct 1643.
Could you let me know if my assumptions are correct – or if I have missed something?

G'day Guy nice to hear from you again. I have only had a brief glance at your query but your assumptions all seem to be correct as I have them. I worked with Bill Curnow many years ago on this family and we were then quite confident that we had the links correct. Not sure about Wilmot's Will but I will try and check on it. I have a note saying it was written 17th May 1764 and proved 19th May 1778. If I get the chance I will try and check for a copy tomorrow. CT

Dear CT
Many thanks for your response.
I have seen a transcription of Wilmot's will dated 1764, but proved 1778. I assume that this would be the Wilmot Quick (widow) who was buried at Towednack on 7 Jul 1765.
I have not seen anything to suggest why there should be such a time lag before the will is proved but I am aware that other wills at this time could be hotly contested - I seem to remember the probate process for one of the Berryman wills was very drawn out.
The will I am interested in is that of Robert Curnow - CRO RefNo AP/C/3460 Title :Will of Robert Curnow, yeoman, of Towednack Date 1744
If no-one has a transcription then I will apply to CRO for an image of the will.
Regards
Guy

Guy - it would appear I have details of the Will of his father, Robert, and of his son, also Robert, but not the one you need. Hopefully someone here has a copy. CT

Dear John
Many thanks for the transcription of the 1743 will - it helps a lot.
Does anyone know which Wilmot Curnow, buried at Towednack in the 1730s, was Robert's wife? There is a Wilmot Curnow bu 17 Jul 1739, and a Wilmet Cornow bu 27 Nov 1732.
Am I right in assuming that Paul Quick who married Wilmot Curnow in 1718 was buried 17 May 1742 at Towednack and left the will catalogued at CRO as AP/Q/70 Will of Paul Quick, yeoman, of Towednack 1743.
Again if anyone has a transcription of this will I would very much like to see it. Regards
Guy

Guy - at this point I have no idea which of the two Wilmots was the wife of Robert. In fact whichever she is I have no idea who the other one might be as I do not seem to have a baptism for her or a possible marriage. You are correct with the burial of Paul Quick and his is another Will that I do not have but would certainly also like to see. CT

Dear Guy
Sorry, I do not have the 1743 will of Paul Quick. Nor can I help on the two Wilmots.

No problem - it might be a couple of weeks before I put in my next list.
Let me know if you have any Thomas/Curnow/Quick wills for Towednack/Zennor you want to see and I might be able to include them in my list.
