Thanks Mike - and Hello 'halfCornish'.
Nice to have you aboard this little trip and able to add some fodder.
We shall have to discuss much of this later as I am about to head to bed after a long night catching up on things here.
Work tonight and still unpacking etc. to do but will be keeping tabs on things now that I am back online.
But I am certainly interested (now even more so) about this particular Trewhella family.
I have spent years trying to find the origins of Henry Trevella (Trewhella) who married Jane Grenfell and spent a lot of time at the Cornwall Record Office searching PR's and other documents and still cannot place him.
However, to keep this note short, you say that John Pellew Trewhella was your great-grandfather??
I would certainly like to discuss more of this family with you.
I have, over the years, met or corresponded with, many members of the descendants of Henry and Jane and I have quite a lot of information here.
I also have information that I have gathered myself from the CRO and other sources so it will be very interesting to talk with you.
In years gone by I have also spoken with other members of your family (extended) so have been able to piece together quite a bit.
One item I found that I had been mistaken on may be interesting:-
Henry s/o Henry Trewhella and Elizabeth (Honeychurch) married Jane Cockell in 1856.
Among their children was a son named Henry.
Searching IGI (many, many years ago) I found the marriage of Henry Trewhella to Kate Daniel in 1892 and 'worked out' that this was the son of Henry and Elizabeth.
Whilst in London in 1994, however, I found out that I was wrong after a visit to the various archives.
It turns out that the younger Henry died 'at sea' aboard (or maybe not) the ship 'Boswedden' in 1887.
This then meant that the above-mentioned marriage was a second marriage for his father.
I then found that Jane (nee Cockell) was buried at Penzance in 1892.
Must get to bed now but I will be extremely interested to discuss this family with you.
I know some of the family who live in Western Australia and also, if still there, in Mulgrave, Victoria. (Mind you, I have not been in contact for years.)
Please feel free to contact me via PM or email to discuss this.
