I am beginning to seriously agree with you about Thomas being the man responsible for all the children. The problem really is that the three children at Gulval are ALL recorded with Elizabeth as the mother. Yet there is no record of a marriage that would fit and, seemingly, no record of the demise of said Elizabeth. I still have some work to do on the problem butif we substitute Jane for Elizabeth then it does certainly all begin to make sense. Given that the baptism at Paul in 1799 for Thomas was a private baptism then the baptism a month later at Gulval could well be the public baptism for the same child. BTW - I found Susan GLASSON in the 1841 Census on Ancestry indexed as Susan STEPHENSON! CT

CT Another leap of faith?? The Susan mentioned above, a dairywoman, died in 1878 at Hea Moor, Madron. The point of interest is that her informant was her niece "Annie Rowe". Well here is my guess - Thomas, the son of Thomas Glasson and Jane Daniel, married Jane Mitchell in 1831 in Gulval (of course - where else). They had a number of children including Ann Glasson born around 1845. She (Ann) just happened to marry Samuel Cornish ROWE in 1874. As a by-the-by their daughter, born 1878, was Annie Rowe. So if Annie was Susan's niece, that makes Susan to be Thomas's sister, and that makes Thomas senior (husband of Jane Daniel) to be her father - now he must have been sneaking up to Gulval, or somebody in Gulval was going the other way - surely?? Actually I have walked up that road quite a few times and I would certainly be prepared to walk it if there was a tall dark Cornish maiden waiting for me when I got there if you know what I mean. Yes - that is a leap of faith! I agree that the Thomas Glasson who married Jane Michell was the father of the future Mrs Samuel Cornish Rowe. And I agree that if Annie Rowe was the niece of Susanna Glasson then Thomas and Susanna are most probably siblings. BUT - up until this point I have not had Thomas linked to any parents! Because he now appears almost certain to be a brother to Susanna then he will be linked to the mysterious Thomas and Elizabeth. But that still leaves the situation of Thomas and Elizabeth as 'resolution pending'. CT BTW - Make mine Hicks!

I'm tagging this onto the Susanna thread as I'm sure its just a one-off query but have you heard of a Taylor Glasson age 40 in the 1911 census and a Farmer in Breage? I've just had a question posed to me about any further details I can find for him but all I can see is the 1911. Thanks in advance. Hicks CT - bet you can taste it now Its possible after looking at Cornwall OPC, FreeBMD and googling and still not finding anything that the surname could be Glassow instead of Glasson. Back to the cider which might be sending the brain funny on such a hot day.

March Qtr 1870 - Birth Helston R.D. Vol 5c Page 234 Richard Taylor GlassonHow does that one grab ya! Possibly a grandson of Robert Glasson and Jennifer Taylor who married at Breage 14th January 1830. In 1901 he is with sister Susan J Glasson at Breage whose age then was 37. I think the parents are Robert and Catherine but the Ancestry transcribers have been up to their tricks again and it will take me some time to find enough to be certain of that. If I have found him in earlier Census then he is indexed twice as Rirchard F and at least one of those times as GLOSSON! Having already submitted upwards of 50 corrections in the last week or so I don't have the energy to think much more about it right at this minute. No sign of the baptism or the marriage in the OPC records that I can find yet. CT

Thankyou for the information, the poser of the question didn't mention a Richard Taylor ................. I've found a marriage of a Robert Glasson to Catherine Brown 2nd quarter, 1858 Helston. Also the birth 1st quarter, 1870 Helston of Richard. In 1911 there is mention of sister Susan plus a visitor Augusta Richards. If you would like any of the above records please let me know. I've also come across a burial of a R Glasson at North Tidworth Military Cemetery, Wiltshire 5.9.1914. R was aged 43. Now whether this is Richard Taylor or not I don't know but it might be a useful piece of info for someone. Thanks again

Lamorna
I have Richard T as the son of Robert Glasson and Catherine Brown, appears in the 1871 census at Godolphin Downs aged 1 - therefore the grandson of Robert Glasson and Jennifer Taylor.

I believe that this is Richard Botterel Glasson, born 1871 and baptised at Paul, son of James and Elizabeth nee Corin.
