following on from the recent thread I have a query about another family: in 1851 Robert & Ann Wallis are at the home Of Alex and Elizabeth Trembath and their son James. James was baptised at Sancreed 19 Oct 1828.
The only marriage of an Alexander to an Elizabeth that I can find in the right timeframe and location is: Alexander Rowe to Elizabeth Tresize 22 Jul 1822, witnesses : John Grenfell and James Trezise, With Consent Of Parents
So my questions: 1) is this the right marriage?
2) Why did he change his name to Trembath?
3) What is the connection to Robert and Ann (nee Trudgen of Sancreed)? Robert may have been their landlord but he is listed as "visitor" on the census (He was the son of Robert & Mary of Sennen, of whom I have written before)
4)I think Elizabeth was the daughter of James Tresize and Mary Trudgen so could Mary have been Ann's sister? this is where I get stuck.
30 Apr 1853 by Banns James Trezise Trembath full age Sawyer of Newbridge [Mark] (Father: Alexander Trembath, Miner) Elizabeth Warren full age of Madron [Mark] (Father: Thomas Warren, Farmer) Witnesses: Thomas Warren sen. Thomas Warren.
Note James's middle name......seems likely that Alex Rowe/Trembath are the same person as James takes on his mother's maiden name.
Thanks Tony - missed that one. Also baptised at Sancreed: 20 Apr 1823 Elizabeth Rowe parents Alexander & Elizabeth Rowe 21 Oct 1832 James Trembath Rowe, parents ditto 19 Oct 1828 James Trembath parents Alexander & Elizabeth Trembath 29 May 1836 John Trembath, parents ditto
But I cant find a baptism for William who is 8 in 1841 but 49 in 1871 (not with the family in between). in 1874 he married Mary Ann Daniel (age 23 father Thomas) and I cant find her either

I have not yet found a baptism for Mary Ann Daniel but it looks like the following could be her:-
Thomas DANIEL, head, mar., 35, tin and copper miner, Morvah Elizabeth do., wife, mar., 30, Madron Elizabeth J do., daur, 8, Madron Thomas do., son, 7, St Just MARY A do., daur, 3, St Just Betsey do., daur, 1, St Just
But 1861 provides a problem.
'A' Mary Ann Daniel age 8 (born St Just) is with her uncle and aunt Thomas and Eliza WHITE.
Thomas White married Eliza Daniel 20th May 1850 at St Just.
Eliza was d/o Thomas Daniel and birthplace in 1861 recorded as St Just.
But then there is a Mary Ann Daniel age 13 and born Sancreed who is a servant at Madron.
This last one might be the one from the 1851 Census.
In 1871 Mary A Daniel age 22 and born St Just is a servant at Penzance.
Again this is probably the same Mary as in 1851.
But then there is Mary Ann Daniel, age 19, born St Just who is a servant to her cousin Thomas Ellis at Boscaswell, St Just.
This is probably your girl.
Thomas Ellis age 23 of Boscaswell (son of Thomas) married Grace Williams age 19 of Trewellard (d/o John) 16th November 1861 at Pendeen
This then makes Mary Ann a daughter of the following marriage:-
Thomas Daniel age 24 of St Just (son of Thomas) married Mary Ann Ellis age 20 of St Just (d/o Thomas) 26th July 1845 at St Just
This might be a bit confusing but I hope it helps solve part of the problem for you.
I will look at it again tomorrow and get my database updated.
