Hi there Heather,
I have more or less finished my QUICK family tree with a lot of thanks to this fanstastic site, CT, Lannanta etc. They have been so generous with their information which I would never have been able to find I am sure. I have just come across this part of the site and would LOVE to find some skeletons in the cupboard eh...just to make the tree a little more interesting!! ;D My line is the Zenobia/Thomas QUick Line via their son Anthony b 1634. I see the dates you have are 1805 - 1892, so that would have to go down the line to Sampson QUick of St. Ives b 1796 or any of his children, Thomas Ralph Quick, Mary Ann Quick, John Quick, Bennett Quick, Sampson Quick Jnr. Or anything for THomas QUICK b 1851. Please dont go to too much trouble. I wasn't sure what info you needed to do your search. ANything for Quick would be a good read. I just SO enjoyed this forum reading all the old crime stories. A great read and thank you so much. Teresa

Heather: I am interested in (1) John Hawke, convicted (I think) of larceny at Cornwall QS in 1845/6; and (2) Susan Peters Nance Hawke, convicted (I think) of the same offence at Penzance QS, possibly in 1841. If you come across the name 'Strike' I shall also be interested. Thank you for your willingness to look up these records: much appreciated!
Best wishes Neil [neilhawke8]

Hi, I have a missing man. George James b. 1848 in Paul parish was present in the 1881 census but gone from the 1891. His family was divided between his mother and his wife's parents families. Could he possible be on the lists you have access to? Miriam Nauenburg

Hello Heather, I wonder whether you have anything on a Thomas Rodda, butcher, who was languishing in Penzance Borough Goal during the 1841 census please? Bob

Hi Bob - unfortunately we have not heard from Heather for a long time now. But I have checked the Regsiter via Ancestry and there seems to be only one entry that might be the man you are looking for. Penzance Borough Sessions 12th April 1841 Thomas Rodda, age 60, sentenced to 4 months imprisonment for larceny CT

CT, Many thanks for that. So with one law-abiding butcher by the name of Thomas Rodda in Penzance at the 1841 census, and one criminal one, I'm still unfortunately spoilt for choice. Regards, Bob

Bob -there was another record for 1843 which may be for the same man except that the age differs by about 3 years. And also in 1841 and 1843 there are records for a Thomas Rodda junr. born about 1827.
From memory the two in 1843 both involve a minor offence called sheep-stealing! ;D

Hi Heather,
I was hoping you could help me look up some of my DAVEY ancestors - if you have any records on HENRY or MARY/MARY ANN/MARY ANNE Davey on your system please please let me know - any dates would be appreciated. Also if you wouldn't mind trying DAVEY/DAVY/DAVIE/DAVIS etc as it seems to be a very common name!
Thanks Julia Brisbane, Australia

Hi Juliaanna and welcome to the Penwith Forum, and no, I'm not stalking you . This topic doesn't look as if it is active as the Original Poster is no longer online to respond to lookup requests. Your query is quite broad, so might I suggest you narrow it down and ask a specific question to get you started. Something along the lines of your Henry DAVEY married Mary Ann SMITH in Antony 22 September 1834 and you are after some help in determining which of the Henry DAVEYs born 1810 to 1820 is the correct one? Also if you go back to the Forum Home page, you could post your query in Help/Queries or in the Parishes section, selecting Illogan or Gwennap given your Henry may have been born in one of them. This Forum isn't as busy as the other place but the people here are very helpful. Good luck Spike

Hi Julianna and Welcome from me also! As you have pointed out Davey (var.) is quite a common name in Cornwall so the best advice is to consider what Spike has said and give us as much information as you can about Mary Ann so that finding the information you want might be a little easier. First choose the most appropriate place for your post and then, if possible, provide a little background including (where appropriate) details of marriage, children and information you may have gleaned from Census records. All that will help us to help you. CT
