In response to CT's latest query about who I think the parents are: I think their are two possibilities, the first is as posted originally: John Quick Birth 4 Aug. 1805 Cornwall Death Jun 1888 Cornwall, England, United Kingdom Family Info Father William Quick (1778-1842) Mother Catherine Osborn (1780-1859) This information is back up from this OPC entry with William and Catherine as parents to John: www.cornwall-opc-database.org/moreinfo.php?ID=740583&dbtype=baptismsThe other possibility is from another birth 3 month's before with John and Elisabeth as parents to another John: www.cornwall-opc-database.org/moreinfo.php?ID=740572&dbtype=baptismsConfusing I know ... it does make some sense to pick John and Elisabeth as the parents and I will need to find out why I chose the others on my Ancestry tree. I will respond to that after a couple days away from the computer.

Certainly seems to be some confusion here Snydly! The John we are referring to who was the son of John Quick and Elizabeth Richards was the man who married Elizabeth Osborn in 1804. Elizabeth Osborn being the sister of Catherine Osborn who married William Quick in 1800. As read your initial note about having to change your Family Tree I thought you were referring to the fact that you had different parents for the husband of Elizabeth Osborn. Does that make sense??? I found this thread purely by Googling "Baden Powell Mafeking Quick" on behalf of my mother-in-law who asked me to find out what happened to him. My wife is the grand-daughter of Frances Quick, in turn the daughter of Leonard Quick and Mary Ellen Pearce of Cornwall.I suspected a skeleton in the closet with John Quick and Ann Glasson and was wondering about a first marriage that did not work out. I see Mary Ann Quick nee Dunstone died in 1873, the same year John Quick married Ann Glasson. I have some photos from the 1900s if you care to email me at johnroy@wave.co.nz

Hi Johnroy - my apologies for seemingly ignoring this message! Your mention of Baden Quick has started a flurry of activity in another post. Thankyou for your offer of the photographs. I would certainly be interested in seeing them and adding copies to my collection of Quick data please. To the left of this image (under my avatar) you will see two small icons. The one on the left looks like a small Envelope. That is the link to my email address so just click on it and your email program should open. I presume you have read through the SCANDAL Thread regarding this Quick family? CT

Obviously the person who submitted this had not followed the family as closely as I and had therefore not worked out that John Quick's first wife was still living up until 1873! John married Ann Glasson about eight years after the baptism of their last child and just 33 days after the burial of 1st wife Mary. St Ives Primitive Methodist Chapel 30th June 1873 CT If anyone is interested, OPC has a transcription of the Marriage Certificate for John and Ann.
