Looking thru the A2A catalogue I found the following:
Gilbert of Trelissick, Feock Manor of Amylle-an Trylle
ref. GB/15/19 - date: 31 May 1658
99 yr. lease (lives: (2), Martyn, and Thos. Trewheela); consideration £40; rent 7/-.1. Hump. Noy, Carnanton and Eliah Harvey, London, esqs. 2. Jas. Trewheela, Towednack, yeo. - Chylasson.
Presumedly #2 above, James Trewheela is the man b. ca. 1615 and living in Towednack.
Martin would be his nephew.
Thomas could be either his brother, or another nephew. I would think the latter, since he is named after Martin, not before.
On the same day, the following lease was signed:
ref. GB/15/20 - date: 31 May 1658
99 yr. lease (lives: Jas. and Jn. Trewheela, Eliz. Warren) consideration £110; rent 7/-. 1. Eliab Harvey, London, Hump. Noy, Carnanton, esqs. 2. Jn. Quick, miller and Jas. Trewheela, yeo., both of Towednack. - land in village of Nancleddra, Towednack.
This is almost certainly the same James, but this lease contains his son John also, who was probably only about 3.
A few things to mull over:
1. What was the significance of 1658? Did James' father James die shortly before that year?
2. Were the majority of Thomas and Catherine (Boswin)'s children b. before 1658? I had tentatively put Martin and Thomas ca. 1660 and 1663, but it is obvious that they need to be moved back a bit.
3. Who is Elizabeth Warren, and how does she connect to the Trewhellas? Or is her connection with John Quick?
4. Can we identify this John Quick? Could he be a brother-in-law of James?

An interesting dilemma to say the least! I agree that the James Trewheela involved in the first lease is 'probably' the man born c. 1615. And it is most likely that the Martn and Thomas named as lives were his nephews - those we have placed as sons of his brother Thomas. The second lease is interesting and seems to indicate that James and John Trewheela were probably his sons. The interesting point here is that, if our previous re-construction of these families is correct, then James also had a son named William who later married Jane Baragwanath. Question - is this an indication that William was not yet born in 1658?? As for Elizabeth Warren - I have absolutely no idea! I have seen at least some of this document before and have always wondered at the identity of Elizabeth Warren. Questions and Answers:- The significance of 1658 - don't know except that we know that the Churchwarden James Trewhela signed the Protestation Return in 1641 and had been involved in a few things before that:- 1 - signed the Inventory for the Estate of Nicholas Berriman at Zennor in 1616. 2 - Witnessed the Will of Thomas Berriman of Zennor in 1622. I would expect James probably died sometime before 1658 but whether it has any bearing on the case is a matter of conjecture. The children of Thomas and Katherine (Boswin) :- I have always put Thomas and Martin as having been born 'after' 1652. We know that Matthew was baptised at St Erth December 12th, 1652 (OS) and we know that Thomas and Katherine were married at St Erth February 25th, 1651 (OS). John Quick, Miller - my best suggestion just now is that this is probably the son of Thomas and Zenobia Quick (b. c. 1630) I have some recollection of a (poss.) John Quick, Miller - but I just cannot remember right now in which document I saw it. I reckon it was probably a Will but cannot be sure. Best I can do for now.

I think I originally had Martin being b. ca. 1660, and his brother Thomas ca. 1663, but after seeing the A2A document, I have had to compress the family a bit. The daughters' births I had estimated according to their marriage dates. Here is the way I now have them lined up: Children of Thomas and Catherine (Boswin) Trewhella: Matthew (chr. 29 Dec 1652) Martin ca. 1654 (m. 1688) Honor ca. 1656 (m. 1680) Thomas ca. 1657 (m. 1686) ?Christopher? ca. 1660 (mentioned at Amyll and Tillie, 1688) And James Trewhella's children I had as follows: Anne (chr. 9 Nov 1644) James ca. 1646 (Scilly James - d. 1700) Philipp ca. 1649 (m. ca. 1643) Blanche ca. 1652 John ca. 1655 (1 m. 1679) Thomasine ca. 1657 (m. 1682) William ca. 1660 (m. 1689) So that does put William after the 1658 date of the A2A document. Only question I have when looking at the above - where did I get Blanche from? I have no notes on her...

Don't play with things too much just yet. Blanch came from the Towednack BT's - she was buried June 4th, 1664 at Towednack. It is surmised she was the daughter of James because of another burial in 1686. Blanch (I think recorded as w/o James) bu. November 28th, 1686 Towednack. I will have to check my documents later but I am fairly sure this was the scenario - hence the younger Blanch belongs to this family. (And I believe you will have it in your own notes somewhere as well - given the amount of time we spent on the scenario all those years ago!) ANYWAY - I have received some more interesting information that I HOPE to have posted in the next day or so. This includes a little CONVICT information from Cornwall to the USA. But I need to be a little more awake than I am now to do it so ----- you will have to wait. ;D

Thank you for the info on Blanche. For some reason I did not have her death recorded, nor did I have notes on her. It looks like I probably went on with another member of the family and just forgot to get back to her. Have added her death and notes to my GedCom file.

I am looking for information regarding Matthew Trewhella and thought you might like to see my details:
I have a Martin Trewhella born 1842 to Matthew Trewhella (born Uny Lelant 1808) and Grace Trewhella (nee UREN - born 1813 Gulvall). They married in Ludgvan 1836.
Matthew Trewhella's parents were John and Mary Trewhella (nee Berryman). I don't have any other details for these two as I am still searching.
Grace UREN was the daughter of John & Elizabeth UREN (nee WARREN).
Elizabeth WARREN was born 1786, Zennor.

I have another Elizabeth WARREN (no maiden name or DOB yet) being married to Francis WARREN. Their son Enoch WARREN is the father of Elizabeth WARREN born Zennor 1786. I mention this because I note that you are curious about the Elizabeth WARREN mentioned at the start of this thread. There could well be some connection further back because I was told that Elizabeth WARREN (1786) and her husband John UREN (b. 1770) had some link to the QUICK name. Henry QUICK - but I have no further information as yet. Just something mentioned by an elderly uncle overseas. I hope that I can find something but in the meantime I thought it best to put these few details on the Board. Maybe the 2 experts Zenobia and Cornish Terrier can piece it together . Hehehe. CP

Yes - I think we may have some help available. But largely due to the information you have supplied in your last two notes (after playing miscreant for quite some time. ) My database shows, currently, no parents for either John Uren or Elizabeth Warren but I do have a list of 11 children for them who appear to have been all baptised at Gulval. Interesting to note that the third child (first two were Elizabeth and John presumably after parents) was ENOCH JAMES which fits in with your latest information. Fourth child WILLIAM married Philippa Stevens BERRYMAN at Lelant in 1838. I will follow the UREN/WARREN information later as I need to eat and get to bed very soon. However, you mentioned that you wish information on the parents of Matthew TREWHELLA s/o John TREWHELLA and Mary (nee BERRYMAN). I have quite a bit of information to help you with both sides here but, unfortunately, I cannot do it tonight. Hope you can wait and will do the best I can over the next few days.

Sorry I was gone for so long. I'm pleased you remembered me. ;D ;D
I already have all the information for John Uren and Elizabeth Warren and all their children etc., but if you have anything further to add, that would be a bonus. Thanks. No rush at all.
As you are the Trewhella expert, I was interested to know if you had anything about the Trewhellas and the Berrymans that I mentioned. No rush here either, please take your time.
You can always pop in and have a look at my Family Tree to compare notes. You have the Password.
Thanks for getting back to me so promptly.

Much of this should probably soon be discussed in the Uren Thread but, as it involves a Trewhella, I will post my further findings here for now. I first have a question - where did the information come from that Elizabeth WARREN was bn./bp. at Zennor in 1786. I have searched my Zennor information and this one does not appear - in fact, very few Warrens appear around this time at Zennor. What I have found (IGI) is:- Elizabeth bp. 01 January 1783 St Just d/o Enoch and Ann WARREN This fits with the age given when she was buried at Gulval in 1839 (57). Her father Enoch was bp. at Sancreed 14 Oct 1764 as son of Francis and Elizabeth WARREN and appears to be the last Warren bp. there until 1775. Enoch's parents would be:- Francis WARREN, of St Just, m. Elizabeth WILLIAMS 14 Feb 1761 at Madron. I would then suggest that Elizabeth WILLIAMS was the following:- Elizabeth bp. 01 Jan 1732 Madron d/o Enoch and Elizabeth WILLIAMS (Elizabeth was nee STEVENS) I now need to know more details about the baptism of John Uren (s/o John Uren and Grace) as I have not yet been able to locate the information through my current sources. I will leave it at that for now as it is quite late and I have other things to attend to. In the next few days I hope to be able to update information for you on the children of John UREN and Elizabeth (nee WARREN).

G'day CT
You are correct. I made a faux pas regarding Elizabeth WARREN re DOB and she was born Sancreed NOT Zennor. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Is that 'born Sancreed' but BP. at St Just by any chance. I've obviously been side-tracked by other things for a little while but will try to get back to this one for you soon.
