I found this universal calendar generator which might be useful for looking up which exact days might be referred to in old documents. I found an obituary in the Times, 9th Feb that reported that an uncle of mine had passed on "Sunday", by using this I was able to calculate the date to the 6th of Feb, 1949. Hope it helps! The calendar program I've downloaded and use on my computer is Calisto, found here: homepages.tesco.net/~jk.calisto/calisto/index.htmAs well as working out the day of the week for a particular date, I've found it very useful in interpreting dates before the calendar change (1752) and also in working out regnal years often found in old deeds.
