Picking up from something Snydly said on another post, and also a thought I had the other day. Is there any way we could put image files on this forum? Scans etc? A lot of forums do have that function and it might help a lot of people. Would it be a problem? Or is it impossible given the memory allotted to the web site etc?
Just a thought...

I cannot recall which thread it was but someone recently added a note indicating there was a function available to include such items.
Amongst the 'Add Tags' buttons there are several 'Insert' functions including 'YouTube', Image, Table and List.
Not sure if any of those will be suitable for what we are discussing but certainly worth a look.

Lets Test one ... ;D The URL to my free Webspace is here with the 3 images on it. chrisps.shawwebspace.ca/I could not add the images to the page due to lack of direct URL to the photo itself.

Just testing. This is a link to one of the deBroke pictures I put on my website in connection with the 'Anyone near Callington' thread. I selected the image button from the 'Add Tags' menu, then went to the webpage in another browser window, right-clicked on the image and selected 'copy image address' and then returned to the forum window to paste the address into the image tag. Could be useful - I didn't realise the facility was available when I put up the photos for Zenobia.

I agree, it would be good to be able to add images, as it can sometimes make things a lot clearer than typing a description. Such as an old map or diagram. The difficulty with adding images as above, is that the image has to already be online, and not sitting on your computer. The difficulty in adding images as an attachment however is file size. Although even when the image is online, if it is a large one, and you copy in the image URL, it could take up half the page!
Is there the option to add an attachment? e.g. pdf?
Ah, yes, I see there is. you have to select full REPLY to do that, not QUICK REPLY.

And you should be aware that attachments are limited to 1Mb in size.
