Hi guys,
A quick question- On a distant line of mine I have found these two names. I can't find much about them- very tenuous link anyway, but as for the CRAZE family, I find them in Mylor, but guess what? No Blanch!!! Again, I am relying on good old IGI for this but does anyone have any info on these persons?
Shoale, Thomas m Craze, Blanch 04 Feb 1705 Mylor
Thanks in advance Malcolm

Not a clue at this stage Malcolm but I can tell you that Phillimore and the Mylor OPRs offer nothing more than what you see in IGI for the marriage.
The only Craze families I have dealt with have been around St Ives but I did have a look at IGI (only the first 50 or so of 200+) and the name seems to be fairly widespread with Camborne, Redruth, Illogan and St Dominick being the bulk of those in the first 50 or so entries.
Blanch could, possibly, have been a widow even though no notation is made with the marriage entry.
But there is a whole sequence of entries in Phillimore that simply give name, name and date.

Anything about the general origin of the Craze family or derivation of the name?

There are pages of the family Craze on a subscription site I belong too. Births, Marriage and Deaths in Illogan, Redruth, Mylor and others. If you let me know which village/s you are interested in I can give you some info.

Hi Newlyn, thanks for that offer which I will take you up on! As far as it goes it's all around Mylor. Here are the details: Thomas Showal/Shoale marries Blanch Craze in Mylor 4th Feb 1705 Children Thomas Shoale (no other info) born/bapt Nov 1706 Mylor Anne Shoale (spelt Shole as well) born/bapt July 1712 Mylor Anne marries Robert Tregenza at St Enoder??? few problems here- Children Anne b 1746 Mylor Thomas b 1750 Mylor Robert b1752 Mylor John b1760 Mylor - seems very late albeit not impossible, Anne Tregenza nee Shoale would have been 48., but it is the only possible I can find and the rest seems to fit. John Tregenza marries Susannah Bastion/Bastian 27 Feb 1784 Mylor Children (all born/bapt at Mylor) Susannah Tregenza b 1784 marries Hugh Weeks (my line) Robert Tregenza b 1785 John Tregenza b 1787 Henry Shole Tregenza b 1781 (note middle name!!!) Thomas Tregenza b 1788 Edward Tregenza b 1793 Frank Tregenza b 1794 Mary Richard Tregenza b 1795 Anne Tregenza b 1798 Elizabeth Bastian Tregenza b 1800 (note middle name) And that's it, all seems to be Mylor. Much obliged to you Newlyn Bucca! Malcolm

The Tregenza's seem to be based around this area at the time. So far I have found the following variants, not all come up on IGI for Tregenza Tregownson Tregenson Tregensa Tregenza Tergenza !!!!!!!
I think we've tidied up Mylor here!!!
