Hi just found this site accidently but am so glad I did. i have been tracing my family history off and on for nearly 25 years. My ggg-grabdfather was John Best born 23 Jan 1825, Bethel Chapel, St Dennis, Cornwall, married 1 May 1854 in Treverbyn, St Austell to Jane Symons born !3 Jan 1837,St Austell. They left for Australia on the 'Blue Jacket' arriving in Australia January 1861. Anyway have a lot more names which I will post in the right forums, but that is where I am going back from. Can't wait to get to know new people and of course can't wait to break down some of my Cornish brickwalls.

Welcome Aboard Donna Always good to have new members join us - particularly when they are keen to get involved as you sound to be. What you have mentioned so far is a little away from West Penwith BUT, as you have probably already noticed that is not a problem! Some of us have ventured right out into the 'wilds' of Northern England in search of answers to some of the queries and not to forget the 'wilds' of London also. ;D Let's see what we can do to assist you as I notice you have already posted another note. And don't be shy! - feel free to 'butt in' on any topic and offer comment or ask for further infomation. We are a happy little bunch here!

Sounds like that would be St Stephen in Brannel which is about the centre o Cornwall - just by St Austell.
