Is it me (or my lot)? Is it the Cornish or perhaps the Welsh? Or is it simply the twisted sense of humour of one Welsh Census Enumerator? Found this in the 1891 Census for Wales. Aberdare, Glamorgan 52 Tramway Martin TREWHELLA, head, mar., 48, coal labourer, Cornwall, Towednack Catherine A do., wife, mar., 45, dress maker, Cornwall, Towednack Matilda A do., daur, 16, dress maker, Monmouthshire, Beaufort Looks innocent enought don't it? BUT IT AIN'T! Martin TREWHELLA baptised Towednack 5th December 1841 son of Matthew and Hannah (nee TREWHELLA) (Died Merthyr Tydfil R.D. 1900) Catherine Ann TREWHELLA baptised Towednack 5th May 1844 daughter of Matthew and Hannah (nee TREWHELLA) (Died Neath R.D. 1930) Matilda Ann TREWHELLA born 5th November 1875 Beaufort, Ebbwvale, Monmouthshire daughter of Christopher TREWHELLA and Matilda ROSEWARNE Christopher TREWHELLA baptised 20th June 1847 St Ives son of Matthew and Hannah TREWHELLA (Died Seven Sisters, near Neath, Glamorganshire 18th May 1928) Martin and Catherine Ann were brother and sister and Matilda Ann was the daughter of their brother Christopher. So how the heck did they get enumerated as HUSBAND, WIFE and DAUGHTER. ;D

Is it me (or my lot)? Matilda Ann TREWHELLA born 5th November 1875 Beaufort, Ebbwvale, Monmouthshire daughter of Christopher TREWHELLA and Matilda ROSEWARNE Hi CT, Came upon this post from a few years ago, while trying to update the Trewhella connections. Just wondering whether you can recall where you got this information from. I've found Matilda from the 1881 census to 1911. This includes her marriage to Abraham Evans. I've also found the birth index, but not the details which give her date of birth and parentage. I hope this dosen't turn up as a double post as the quick reply thing was somewhat flakey!! Simon

That information came from her Birth Certificate of which a copy was given to me many years ago by her grandson and his wife who were living in Canada. I will have that copy tucked away somewhere in my collection of old notes but exactly where at the moment is debatable. I was to visit Pat and Glyn when I was in the US in 1994 but unfortunately ran short on money and never got to Canada. It was a little fortunate in one way though because at the time I was expected to be there Glyn was in Hospital after suffering a heart attack. CT
