Thanks Trencrom - I believe I posted very similar information about 'elder and younger' on another thread last night. Keeps our minds all ticking over.

Mark, can I get you to check on Paynters, especially William Paynters throughout Cornwall please?

Trencrom - I have a deal of information on the Paynter/Painter families here (but would need to find it). For Mark to find what he can would be a great help and may give me time to find the information I have. I do know that I was working on this information some years ago and found some problems which I was attempting to rectify. May be a case (very soon) for a 'new Thread' so we can discuss this and possibly get some extra help. Ian

re.Paynters
I'm afraid we have had a family bereavement, so the look-up has been delayed.
I'll try to get back on this in a week or two.
Regards to all,

Mark - my sincere condolences. Should I be back online properly soon I will be happy to search out my information and answer any queries - where I am able to do so. As stated in an earlier reply, I have quite a bit of information here but some of it appears to be questionable when compared with other data. Willing to help where I can, as usual. Ian

Ron - according to Camborne records Richard was son of Thomas Davye (name of mother not recorded).
His parents are probably:-
Thomas Davye married Alles 29th October 1572 Camborne
There was also the following marriage which is probably 'just' too late:-
Thomas Davy married Florence Anvelen 28th February 1578/9 Camborne.
As for John - I presume you are inferring that he was baptised as an adult? and just prior to his marriage.

Don't know if there is a connection but there was a Davey/Davies etc nucleus around Ludgvan and St Erth and I believe this is where Humphry Davy's family originated. The other nucleus is my lot around Paul and St Buryan way. It's diffcult with a name like this, as with Rowe, and having a major port city slap bang in the middle, i.e. Penzance, complicates it further. I say this because I am stuck on the Devon side of things with a certain Hodge family in Plymouth.... impossible to tell!

I have obtained on CD ROM transcriptions for the Cornwall Subsidies in the reign of Henry VIII for 1524 and 1543, and Benevolence of 1545, transcribed by T.L. Stoate. I am happy to do look-ups. Post your request on this thread ... . Offer still on in 2013? I'm after any info from 1500 to 1700 on family names Cossen, Maderne-Cossen, Maderne, Maddern, Madron. Great if you can help - Paul Maddern
