I am looking for other descendents of my great great grandparents Henry and Hannah Bone who married in Zennor in 1849 and lived most of their married life in that parish. There must be many descendents as the couple had a large family and they may be scattered around the world. Henry Bone was born circa 1826 in Morvah, Cornwall. He died on 12 Dec 1897 of exhaustion and miner's consumption in Tredinnick, Gulval, Cornwall. Hannah Bone was born Hannah Thomas, circa 1828, and was one of the 23 children fathered by William Thomas of Boswednack, Zennor. She died at the home of her daughter-in-law H.A. Bone of Alverton, Madron on 8 Jan 1912. Any help with this query would be much appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to Penwith Genealogy. I am not connected to Henry and Hannah but I do have their family in my database. I have traced parts of their ancestry and have also added the families of daughters Jane and Charity Thomas who married John Berryman and William Eddy respectively. I have a good collection of records available so if you need help with these or any other queries then please let me know. CT

Hello CT, Thank you very much for your reply to my post yesterday. I am interested in anyone, anything, and everything connected with this branch of the family tree. Descended from their son, Thomas, who left England in 1878, it is only in the last decade that I have even been able to piece together where Thomas came from and learn about the family going back in time. Apart from census records to 2011 and some vital statistics to 1912, I have no knowledge of other descendents. I would appreciate corresponding with you and also with other living descendents regarding the family.

I think your best approach here is to create a new thread in the Parish Section either under Morvah or Zennor. Call it something like 'Henry Bone of Morvah' or 'Henry Bone of Zennor' or even 'Henry Bone of Morvah and Zennor'. You could also just call it 'Bone Family of Morvah' perhaps. Post enough information about the family to show where links are, including for example that Thomas came to New South Wales, but without including information about living people. And include your request for help with descendants of the family. Hopefully doing this might highlight the thread a little and attract other researchers who are actually related to your family. I can't do much more with the New South Wales information due to the restrictions in Indexes but I should be able to help with Cornwall records and perhaps a few other odds and ends. CT

I would be interested to see what ancestors you have for Thomas Bone (father of Henry 1826). for the moment I am mostly interested in what you have found about Thomas Bone and Jane Davy who married at Morvah in 1818. The reason is that I have just discovered something that I think is going to solve at least one and possibly two other old problems for me. I would like to see what you have found independently to see how it matches up so I won't disclose my findings just yet. There is one particular clue involved that will decide whether or not you have the right answers. CT

Hello CT The information I have is sketchy. However, I believe Thomas Bone (born circa 1783; buried in Morvah 21 Jan 1848) and Jane Davy (born circa 1785 - 1800) who were married in Morvah on 23 Aug 1818 were maternal great great great grandparents. Two sons were both to the couple in Morvah - Thomas circa 1821 and Henry circal 1826. I am descended from Henry. I hope this information is of some help to you. TFR

Hi TFR - I can add a little for you on Thomas and Jone. Thomas son of Henry Bone was baptised 5th June 1785 at Madron (parents Henry Bone and Jenifer Uren who married at Madron 5th November 1773). Thomas was buried at Morvah in 1848 as you have noted. Jane might have provided you with some trouble but I am reasonably sure I have her sorted as follows. Jane daughter of Matthew Eddy was baptised at Zennor 27th May 1781. (Matthew Eddy married Sarah Renoden 3rd January 1781 at Zennor) Jane was first married to Richard DAVY 8th September 1804 at Zennor and had six children. (Richard was buried 17th September 1816 at Zennor age 40) Jane married for a second time to Thomas BONE 23rd August 1818 at Morvah. Jane was buried at Zennor 8th April 1861 age 81. CT

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This explains why Jane and Thomas appear to have had so few children. Might you have the details of Jane's children with Richard Davy? TFR
